A mixing of modes – although basically music that has a bouncy Batida touch on all tracks! "Ncongo J'Ami" is an older groove, remixed by Batida – and given a jumpy finish that's mighty nice – almost a 70s African vibe, filtered through contemporary Columbia – with just a few twists and turns along the way! The group's own "Yumbala" is reworked by AJ Holmes in an equally bouncy version – one that's got plenty of great basslines that move things along! An offbeat groove from the enigmatic Babyman – with a sound that's as weird as the image on the sleeve! The vocals are spoken, maybe almost rhymed – but set to this great mellow funk groove with a tripping 70s feel – funky, but laidback, and with these great "Summer ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Don't Commot Me/Obiara Wondo
Academy, Early 70s. New Copy (pic cover, reissue)
We've never been commotted – so we're not sure what it means to "Don't Commot Me" – but we can say that the tune is a wickedly sharp bit of Afro Funk, complete with some very fast-riffing guitar!
