LP (Item 608896) No Smoke, 1960s — Condition: New Copy

A second serving of java from the Indonesian scene of the 60s – a surprisingly progressive place back in the day, filled with a great range of groups making some really rocking music! The tunes here draw heavily from the American garage sound of the time – lots of fuzzy guitars, muddy drums, and weird keyboard lines – but often produced in these strange sort of ways that give lots of the tunes an offbeat twist – one that's further augmented by the non-English lyrics, and the cool vocalizations as well – which often creates this spacey vibe on some of the best numbers! Plenty here we've never heard before – and titles include "Dendang Remaja" by The Hooks, "Maling" by Benjamin S, "In My Room" by Diah Iskandar, "To The So Called Guilties" by Koes Bersaudara, "Mari Ka Laut" by The Rhythm Boys & Andan Othman, "Menari A Go Go" by The Rollis, "Revolusi" by Andan Othman, "Modjang Priangan" by The Peels, and "Mari Bergembira" by Trio Visca.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
