CD (Item 514309) Cherry Pop (UK), Early 80s — Condition: New Copy

Jazzy British soul from the early 80s – a great precursor to the bigger wave of work that would come from the Acid Jazz generation, and proof that there was still plenty bubbling under in the years before! The music here is notable as being the first work of Paul Hardcastle – before he broke off into a solo act on his own – and the groups also feature some great vocals from Derek Green – a strong soul singer with a style that was in keeping with some of the other British club type funk of the same time, like work on the Elite label! This stuff's better than you'd think – with a soulful little groove that kind of points the way towards Sade and Loose Ends, without sounding as dated as it should – a great surprise that makes the package well worth digging. Titles include "Time Machine", "Don't Be Mistaken", "AM", "Horse With No Name", "I'm The One", "Time's Running Out", and "Don't Depend On Me".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
