An amazing little collection – the complete Wes Montgomery recordings for Verve – a tremendous tribute to one of the greatest guitarists ever, caught in a variety of wonderful settings – packaged in a cool limited set, with lots of bonus tracks too! The music here was pivotal to Wes' all-too-short career – and it transported him from small group soloist to jazz guitar powerhouse – thanks to some impeccable production from Creed Taylor, and keen knowledge from the Verve team – who helped give Montgomery a number of different settings in which to display his talents! The music features small group sounds, some amazing larger group recordings, and a few key sessions with organist Jimmy Smith – a full 8 albums of material, plus a huuuuuge amount of bonus tracks from the sessions – all done up in one of those cool Hip-O Select 7" book-styled packages, complete with copious notes.
