LP (Item 607141) Sub Pop/Numero, 1990 — Condition: New Copy

Slow-burning, though fully-enthralling rock from Codeine – the great and short-lived early 90s band that paved the way for countless groups to come – given due respect as the icons they are by The Numero Group! Codeine is properly cited as a major precursor to groups like Low and other so-called "slowcore" acts, but there's really nothing mellow about Codeine's sound. A narcotic haze hangs over the record, that's for sure – the band name is an apt one – but it's tense and dynamic vibe that's not at all sleepy! Includes "D", "Gravel Bed", "Pickup Song", "3 Angels", "New Year's", "Second Chance", "Cave-In", "Cigarette Machine", "Old Things" and "Pea". Numero's double vinyl version includes a full LP of bonus tracks: "Castle (Demo)", "Skeletons (Demo)", "3 Angels (Demo)", "Corner Store (Demo)", "Summer Dresses", "Pea (Acoustic)", "Second Chance" (Demo), "Pickup Song (Demo)", "Cave In (Demo)" and "Kitchen". This great 2LP version of the much-loved 1991 album features restored sound from the original masters, comes in a heavy duty gatefold, with an insert booklet of extensive notes and photos. Also includes a CD with all of the tracks.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
