A classic bit of uptempo funk for the dancefloor – and one of the tightest records from the time on Prelude! The group have a sound that's partly in the Earth Wind & Fire ensemble mode – and partly in the early disco style of other east coast groups – augmented by just the right touch of strings to give them a nice full sound. The instrumentation's all pretty nice, with lots of strong sax solos and other nice breakaway bits – and titles include "I Am Music", "Hustle Bus Stop", "Mother Nature", and "Runnin' Away from Love". Atlantic, 1972. Near Mint-
Wicked electric funk from Young Holt Unlimited – and a real departure from the sound of their 60s albums, and a step into a groove that's very 70s-styled overall! The album's heavy on Fender Rhodes – played not just by group member Ken Chaney, but also by a young Bobby Lyle – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Elektra, 1977. Very Good
They may be one-album wonders – but Trussel were a strong group who cut this enduring soul classic at a fortunate time when Elektra was really trying to break into the modern soul market. The record's got a nice midtempo jazzy groove, augmented by production by Fred Wesley, and a sound that ... LP, Vinyl record album
