Stax/Soul Temple, 2013. New Copy 2CD .... $14.99 15.99
The funkiest side of Stax Records – a treasure trove of funky nuggets, all hand-picked by RZA! Ol Dirty Bastard — N***a Please (clean edited promo) ... LP
Elektra/Wu-Tang, 1999. Near Mint- 2LP .... $4.99
Dirt Dog's 2nd album is a little more schizophrenic, twisted, and under the influence than his first. It sounds a little more inspired by Rick James and Flavor Flav, as raw dog as a hip hopper can shimmy without getting arrested. Tracks include "Cold Blooded", "Rollin Wit You", "Gettin High", "You Don't Want To F**k With Me", "Dirt Dog", "I Can't Wait", "Recognize" featuring a cameo by Chris Rock, the summer party bumper "Got Your Money" featuring the sweet vocals of Kelis, "Good Morning Heartache" featuring Lil' Mo, the title track, and more.

Raekwon — Immobilarity ... LP
Wu-Tang/Loud, 1999. Near Mint- 2LP .... $7.99
The second solo album by The Chef – a record that had hard time finding space outside the massive shadow of his first solo landmark Only Built 4 Cuban Linx – and like other Wu Tang solo albums of the era, there's a number of gems on here that really never had a chance to get over a bar set set so high. Titles include "Yae Yo", "Casablanca", the Pete Rock produced near classic "Sneakers", "Raw", "Pop S**t", My Favorite Dred", "Live From New York", "100 Rounds", "Power", and "Forecast".

El Michels Affair — Duel Of The Iron Mics/Bring The Ruckus – Shaolin Series ... 7-inch
Truth & Soul, 2006. New Copy .... $5.99
Wu Tang gets funky – as El Michels Affair serve up spare funky versions of two older classics – almost turning them back into the core samples from which they came! "Duel Of The Iron Mics" is totally great – slow-stepping drums, spare spooky piano, and flowing wave of sound that often carries dark little sounds and noises that shimmer at the bottom of the mix! "Bring The Ruckus" is more straightforwardly funky, but still keeps things slow – starting with a great drum break on the intro, then rolling into a very weird-sounding blend of instruments that has plenty of odd Eastern elements!

Ghostface Killah — Supreme Clientele (remastered 2LP vinyl with poster) ... LP
Epic/Get On Down, 2000. New Copy 2LP Gatefold (reissue).... $19.99
Ghostface's second full length – maybe the most worthwhile Wu solo project, and the best of all them since the first wave of the Wu. Ghost's flow is raw as hell, furious and re-energized, and so startlingly poetic that we were completely blown away. The guests seem to feed off this huge energy boom, too, with Method Man and Cappadona getting their best verses in a while, and even RZA's misguided Bobby Digital persona kicks some raw dynamite. Also features appearances by Raekwon and Redman, plus a few tracks with beats by the RZA. Tracks include "Nutmeg", "Saturday Nite", "Apollo Kids", "The Grain", "Child's Play", "Malcolm", "Buck 50", and "Cherchez La Ghost".
(Remastered double vinyl version of one the best ever Wu Tang solo sets. Includes poster.)

GZA/Genius — Legend Of The Liquid Sword ... CD
MCA, 2002. Used .... $3.99
Once again the GZA shines as the true Genius of the Wu Tang Clan. He continues to move in a more straight ahead rhyme direction, but there's still some nice metaphorical, numerological and knowledge dropping moments sprinkled in between the all-up-in-your-face Wu attitude alongside his acronym rhyme style, over crisp Wu beats. 14 tracks, without any skits to waste your time, unless you count the obligatory intro, including "Did Ya Say That", "Silent", "Knock, Knock", "Animal Planet", "Fam (Members Only)", "Legend Of The Liquid Sword", "Luminal", "Sparring Minds", "Rough Cut"and "Uncut Material".

Inspectah Deck/7L & Esoteric — Czarface ... CD
Brick/Fly Casual, 2013. New Copy .... $13.99 15.98
Tight hip hop from the superhero team of Inspectah Deck with 7L & Esoteric – mostly produced by 7L, with a most welcome guest producer in the legendary DJ Premier – and it's a strong statement from the underappreciated Wu Tang gamer and the ever-creative DJ 7L! On the production tip, 7L pays homage to classic Wu without copying it – and utilizing both classic and completely leftfield samples in a fresh, funky way. The rhymes by Deck and Eso are top shelf, too – with a guest list that includes Roc Marciano, Oh No, Ghostface and others. Includes "Air 'Em Out", "Cement 3's" feat Roc Marciano, "Czar Refaeli" feat Oh No, "Rock Beat", "Savagely Attacked" feat Ghostface Killah, "Marvel Team-Up", "It's Raw" feat Action Bronson, "Let It Off", "Word War 4", "Poisonous Thoughts" feat Mr. Mfn Exquire, "Shoguns" feat Cappadonna & Vinnie Paz, "Hazmat Rap" and the DJ Premier-produced "Let It Off".

new Galt MacDermot — Woman Is Sweeter ... LP
Kilmarnock, 1969. New Copy (reissue).... $9.99
Reissue pressing of this great Galt MacDermot soundtrack, featuring the totally cool sample for Busta Rhymes' big single last year, laid out in the track "Space". Lots of other cool spare funky ones, and a great record all the way through. Tight grooves, spare electric keyboards with a flat "Wu Tang" sound, and lots of choppy funky sounds. A must for sample heads and fans of off-kilter funky grooves alike! At one time, we had this for a very high price, but we managed to score a whole bunch at a new low cost. Another Dusty Groove price breakthrough!!!

Various — Super Breaks Presents Stax Breaks ... CD
Stax (UK), Late 60s/1970s. New Copy .... $18.99
Funky breaks from the Stax Records – the legendary Memphis label that's had as much of an influence on the sound of hip hop as any northern company! The set brings together 19 tracks that are immediately recognizable for their use in modern hip hop – all heavy funk numbers with a solid southern groove – filled to the brim with burning horns, searing guitars, rumbling bass, and heavy funky drums! Tracks on the set have been sampled over the years by the likes of Wu Tang, Brand Nubian, Dilated Peoples, De La Soul, and others – but they also stand out equally well as funky tunes on their own, whether or not you've got an ear for who used them later. Great funky southern soul all the way through – with tracks that include "Our Generation" by Ernie Hines, "Black" by The Mar-Keys, "Tramp (inst)" by Otis & Carla Band, "Make This Young Lady Mine" by The Mad Lads, "The Devil Is Dope" by The Dramatics, "In The Hole" by The Bar-Kays, "I'll Play The Blues For You (part 1)" by Albert King, "Soul Girl" by Jeanne & The Darlings, "Itch & Scratch (part 2)" by Rufus Thomas, "Drumbeat" by Jim Ingram, "Crop Dustin" by Steve Cropper, "After Laughter" by Wendy Rene, "Memphis Sunrise" by The Bar-Kays, "Girl I Love You" by The Temprees, and "As Long As I've Got You" by The Charmels.

RZA — Man With The Iron Fists ... LP
2012. New Copy .... 17.99 Late June, 2013
The best music in years from RZA – the man who introduced styliized martial arts soundtrack funk to hardcore hip hop – and the soundtrack to his own damn stylized martial arts film, The Man With The Iron Fists! Musically, it's top notch! RZA's wise enough to contemporize his tried-and-true style rather than revisit it – with swelling soul strings and a crisper sound than the dusty Shaw Bros-sampling Wu Tang sound of past endeavors –and he's joined by a diverse roster of guests that includes Ghostface, Raekwon and other Wu veterans, Kanye, MOP, Pharoahe Monch, The Black Keys, Corrine Bailey Rae, Danny Brown and many more! Includes "The Baddest Man Alive" with The Black Keys, "Black Out" with Ghostface, MOP & Pharoahe Monch, "White Dress" with Kanye West, "Rivers Of Blood" with Wu Tang Clan and Kool G Rap, "Chains" with Corrine Bailey Rae, "The Archer" with Killa Sin, "Just Blowin' In The Wind" with RZA and Flatbush Zombies, "Your Good Thing Is About To End" by Mable John, "Built For This" with Method Man, Freddie Gibbs & Streetlife" and more.

Loud, 1998. Used .... $1.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
With all the returns, reunions, and comebacks of classic hip hop artists over the past few years, none have been as dope as Pete Rock's. On this track he's joined by Inspectah Deck and Kurupt. And don't be put off by the fact that Kurupt is on the record. Here, he delivers some nice verses that sound nothing like his work with the Dogg Pound (he's originally from Philadelphia, if we remember right.) And Inspectah Deck steps things up a few notches from his recent work with Wu-Tang.

new El Michels Affair — Enter The 37th Chamber ... LP
Fat Beats, 2009. New Copy .... $12.99 Out Of Stock
Cinematic funky soul instrumentals from the El Michels Affair – the loose NYC collective's long awaited full length nod to the Wu Tang Clan! The crew brings their tried and true slow rolling and dirty funk to their interpretations of classic Wu Tang tracks, with some straight up beautiful sophisticated soul backdrops, too, and Leon & the crew pull it all off masterfully! The RZA's sonic stamp is too innovative and idiosyncratic for a simple live band rehash, and the group is wise to use the famous crackling sample built soundscapes to craft both an homage to the Wu Tang's best material, as well as the 70s funk, soul and cinema sounds that informed them in the first place. A few of the tracks first blew our minds as funky 45s, and this full formed set was worth the wait – from the moody organ funk of "Can It All Be So Simple", the funky drummer rhythms of "Uzi (Pinky Ring)", the string accented moods of "Heaven And Hell", the brass band and children's chorus cover of "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" and lots more! Other tracks include "Glaciers Of Ice", "Incarcerated Scarfaces", "Bring Da Ruckus" and more.

Limited 12" vinyl picture disc edition!

new Inspectah Deck/7L & Esoteric — Czarface (plus poster) ... LP
Brick/Fly Casual, 2013. New Copy 2LP .... $19.99 20.98 Out Of Stock
Mfn Exquire, "Shoguns" feat Cappadonna & Vinnie Paz, "Hazmat Rap" and the DJ Premier-produced "Let It Off".

new Madvillain (Madlib & MF Doom) — Madvillainy ... LP
Stones Throw, 2004. New Copy 2 LPs .... $15.99 Out Of Stock
A Stones Throw sci-fi masterpiece – one that was destined for greatness from conception, but we're still pretty well blown away by the final product! MC Doom and beatmaster Madlib couldn't be better suited for a collaboration. As much as we've dug the best of Doom's material of the last couple years, he's always needed a good editor – and Madlib brings nothing but the best sci-fi sound collages, scratches, and titanically driving funky beats – the grooved out 70s side of 'Lib's personality is wisely given a powder, while in the company of a vocal presence that's as insane as Doom. When it's not so pounding, the sound drops into the kinda gloomy, murky crackle of earliest Wu Tang. This is easily the best album of its kind since Dr. Octagon tore the flood gates open. Essential!!! "The Illest Villains", "Accordian", "Bistro", "Raid" feat Medaphoar, "America's Most Blunted", "Rainbows", "Curls", "Money Folder", "Hardcore Hustle","Fancy Clown", "Supervillain", "All Caps", "Rhinestone Cowboy" and more.

new Bronx River Parkway — La Valla/Nora Se Va ... 7-inch
Truth & Soul, 2006. New Copy .... $3.99 Out Of Stock
Quite possibly the heaviest groove we've heard to date from Bronx River Parkway – a tune that snaps out with a stark little break on the beginning – really crackling with a heavy funk energy, but also sharing a bit of Wu-Tang like piano in the background! As the tune rolls on, the record picks up a bit more of a Latin flourish on the horns and vocals – setting the scene for the mellower "Nora Se Va" on the flipside – a jazzy laidback number with piano darting out nicely underneath Spanish language vocals!

new El Michels Affair — CREAM/Glaciers Of Ice – Shaolin Series ... 7-inch
Truth & Soul, 2006. New Copy .... $5.99 Out Of Stock
Deep funk for the hip hop scene – instrumental versions of 2 Wu-Tang classics, both of them great! "CREAM" is done here as a low-down and dirty funk track – hard drums in place of the beats, scratchy guitar to enforce the darkness, and a madly tippling piano part that's pure Wu-Tang all the way! Raekwan's "Glaciers Of Ice" follows in a similar mode – familiar, yet very strange in this new incarnation – equally dark and nicely subdued, another crowning achievement for El Michels Affair!

Snatch & The Poontangs — Snatch & The Poontangs ... LP
Kent, 1970. New Copy (reissue).... $9.99
A bit bluesy, a bit funky, and pretty raunchy all the way through – as you might expect from the name of the group! The group are a Johnny Otis side project from the late 60s – and the record's got lots of the weird funky touches of Johnny's own work of the time, all done at a nicely stoned-out style!. No players are named on the album – but vocals are by "The Mouth", guitar is by "Prince Wunnerful", and drums and piano are by "The Hawk", all of which leads us to believe that the record was cut by players with bigger status, who had something to hide! Titles include "Big John Jeeter", "The Signifyin' Monkey (parts 1 & 2)", "Hey Shine", and "Two Girls In Love (With Each Other)". Raunchy wraparound cover too – with a very Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers image!
