Contemporary work from Uku Kuut – but grooves that have the same great feel as some of his rare material from the 80s! Most of us folks first discovered Uku's work on PPU's excellent compilation of his home studio recordings from years back – and it's great to see that he's still going strong, working here on a set of different mixes for various local producers – most of whom are quite well conversed in dancefloor soul styles from the US! Most vocals are in English, and the set features Uku Kuut mixes of cuts that include "Angel", "Long Time Ago", "One More Time", "Funkdabass", "No One's Gonna Stand In Our Way", "When Love Has Gone Away", "Main Funk", and "Affinity".

Not the classic disco tune "I Feel Love", but instead a great modern groover from Uku Kuut – one that has these great stepping keyboards over beats, with a vibe that's just like some lost instrumental street soul cut from the mid 80s! The tune spins perfectly at both 45 and 33 – making the single a great double-value – and "Santa Monica Pier" follows in a similar mode, with a nice sort of slink to the keyboards!

Amazing sights and sounds from the 80s soul underground – rare videos and TV footage from the same sort of groups we've loved in the PPU reissue series! The quality of the images is really striking – lots of over-saturated 80s video that really works well with the electro funky rhythms in the grooves – a stunning portrait of these underground heroes, with work by Glass Pyramid Band, Incredible Rock City Band, Uku Kuut, and California Flight Project – plus some hotel party clips too! The DVD runs for 90 minutes, and is like taking a time machine back to an 80s underground that few of us were ever hip enough to have experienced!
