TrammpsBest Of The Trammps ... LP
Atlantic, 1978. Very Good+ .... $0.99
A sweet collection of crisp, uptempo Philly disco, from the Baker Harris Young production team, with a thumpin' Tom Moulton mix. Nine party and club groovers, with some nice ensemble harmonies over the top, a few that you've heard a million times, but if nothing else, they'll bring back memories of those great roller skating days! Includes 'Disco Inferno", "The Night The Lights Went Out", "That's Where The Happy People Go", "Hooked For Life", "Soul Searchin' Time", "I Feel Like I've Been Livin' (On The Dark Side Of The Moon" and "Seasons For Girls".
(Cover has a promo stamp on front.)

TrammpsDisco Inferno ... LP
Atlantic, 1976. Very Good+ .... $1.99
A landmark album from The Trammps – and a record that broke the group firmly out of the Philly ghetto, yet still carried all the best touches of the Sigma scene! Sure, the title track was a super-huge hit – thanks to a plug in Saturday Night Fever – but the record itself is Philly club soaring high, with key arrangements and production from the team of Norman Harris, Ronald Baker, and Earl Young – all of whom provide tremendously mighty grooves to soar the multi-voiced sound of the group well over the top of the clubs! Titles include an 11 minute version of "Disco Inferno", plus "Starvin", "Don't Burn No Bridges", "You Touch My Hot Line", and "I Feel Like I've Been Livin (On The Dark Side Of The Moon)".
(Cover has a small cutout notch.)

TrammpsLegendary Zing Album ... LP
Buddah, 1975. Very Good .... $6.99
The first full album cut by The Trammps – and a landmark bit of Philly club sounds! The group had already been grooving the burgeoning east coast disco scene for years, which is why the album's called The Legendary Zing Album (the group's version of "Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart" was a big early hit, and supposedly led people to ask for a "Zing" album.) The whole thing's got a massive Harris-Baker-Young sound – with that sweet groove that the trio were pioneering in Philly, a mixture of small combo grooving with strings added in at just the right points. The Trammps themselves add in some great harmonies – never overwhelmed by the full sound of the grooves, singing very much in a Spinners mode on cuts like "Pray All You Sinners", "Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart", "Rubber Band", and "Hold Back The Night". The album also features two great instrumentals – "Tom's Song" and "Penguin At The Big Apple" – both of which have that sweeeeet Norman Harris guitar!
(Cover has light wear, a cutout hole, a promo sticker on the front, and a bit of tape on part of the top seam.)

TrammpsMixin It Up ... LP
Atlantic, 1980. Near Mint- .... $0.49
One of the most dancefloor-oriented efforts from the Trammps – and that's saying a lot, given the sound of their other records! This set brings the beats up a bit more than before – almost a boogie groove, or an 80s-styled sound at points – but still with strong roots in the Philly club of earlier albums. Baker/Harris/Young produced – and mixes are by Ron Kersey, Ron Baker, and Earl Young – all of whom are trying to give the group a leaner, cleaner sound than in the disco years. Titles include "Hard Rock & Disco", "Music Freek", "Dance Contest", "VIP", "Wake Up From Yesterday", and "You Can Make It".
(Cover has a gold promo stamp.)

TrammpsTrammps ... LP
Golden Fleece/CBS, 1975. Very Good .... $3.99
Wonderful early work from The Trammps – recorded before the group got a bit too bogged down in their own disco fame, when they were still capable of hitting that tight, right Philly club groove! The album's got a simple brilliance that sparkles almost more than the Gamble & Huff work at the time – recorded at Sigma Sound with a warm harmonies on the vocals, and sweetly gliding strings over the rhythms – all produced to perfection from the team of Ronnie Baker, Norman Harris, and Earl Young! Most numbers are groovers, but in a relatively restrained sort of way – and titles include "Trammps Disco Theme", "Stop & Think", "Love Epidemic", "Save A Place", "I Know That Feeling", and "Where Do We Go From Here".
(White label promo. Cover has a cut corner and some staining at the bottom.)

TrammpsTrammps III ... LP
Atlantic, 1977. Very Good+ .... $2.99
Not the group's most famous work, but a really strong batch of Philly soul tracks – with production and arrangements by Ron Baker and Norman Harris, in a blinding Sigma Sound mode that shows that the Philly Groove could still be kicking it large in the late 70s. Our favorite track, though, is the mellowest – "Seasons For Girls", which is a beautiful smooth mellow stepper, one that runs for 8 minutes long, with some excellent harmony vocals. Other tracks, though, include "Love Per Hour", "The Night The Lights Went Out", "People Of The World, Rise", and "Living The Life".

TrammpsWhere The Happy People Go ... LP
Atlantic, 1976. Very Good- .... $0.99
Quite possibly the best record ever by The Trammps – halfway between their roots in the early 70s east coast indie club scene, and the smoother approach of their later disco hits! The set is prime Sigma Sound disco – with strong harmonies by the group in a post-Spinners mode, and plenty of help from Philly regulars like Bobby Eli, Norman Harris, and Ron Baker – who maintain a core rhythm that really help the record groove! The whole thing is great – with long tracks, but still a great focus – and titles include "Can We Come Together", "Soul Searchin Time", "Love Is A Funky Thing", and "Hooked For Life".

TrammpsWhole World's Dancing ... LP
Atlantic, 1979. Very Good+ .... $0.49
The Trammps are still burning strong at the end of the 70s – never losing their Philly groove despite a run on the charts and much bigger fame than most of their contemporaries – and in a way, the album's almost a back-to-basics affair that's pure Philly all the way! Arrangements here are by Norman Harris, Ron Kersey, and Ron Baker – who've taken the group into a mode that's perhaps got some of the new club touches being explored more at Salsoul than Philly International – but which still works tremendously well for the group. Tracks are all full, flowing, and and aimed at the dancefloor – and although there's not really any standout hits or hooks here, that aspect of the album is almost a welcome relief, given that the group could be going for easy hits at this point. Titles include "Love Insurance Policy", "Whole World's Dancing", "My Love It's Never Been Better", "Soul Bones", "Love Magnet", and "More Good Times To Remember".
(Includes the lyric sleeve. Cover has a tracklist sticker on the front near the bottom and a gold promo stamp.)

Various — Creme De La Creme – Philly Soul Classics & Rarities – From The Vaults Of Atlantic, Atco, & Warner Bros. Records 1972-1976 ... CD
WEA (UK), Mid 70s. New Copy .... $15.99
One of the best compilations of 70s soul you'll ever buy – a treasure trove of tracks from mid 70s Atlantic and Warner Brothers Records – all recorded in the mighty soul capitol of Philly! The set does a great job of combining hit singles with a load of lesser-known Philly gems – tunes recorded as singles or obscure album tracks by artists who were working in the same Sigma scene as the bigger acts on Atlantic, but who never managed to crack the charts as much. The whole thing's great – a smooth-grooving midtempo batch of tracks that never fails to please – and honestly, if we had to dig through thousands of old records to produce such a set, we're not sure we could do a better job! Titles include "One More Time" by Dianne Steinberg, "Let's Get Together Now" by The Aristocrats, "Love Won't Let Me Wait" and "Loving You Is Mellow" by Major Harris, "Kiss My Love Goodbye" by Bettye Swann, "Welcome To The Club" by Blue Magic, "That's Where I'm Coming From" by True Reflection, "Save Your Love For Me" by Vivian Reed, "You Call Me Back" by Clyde Brown, ""I Got A Feeling" by First Choice, "Gonna Make You Mine" by Anglo Saxon Brown, "Got To Get You Together Now" by Sons Of Robin Stone, "Can We Come Together" by The Trammps, and "Once You Hit The Road" by Dionne Warwick.
