✨✧ CerroneBrigade Mondaine –Vice Squad ... LP
Malligator (France), 1978. Sealed ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A rare soundtrack from the mighty Cerrone – recorded right at the height of his electro disco fame, and with a very similar groove! The film was also titled Vice Squad in the US market – and the music here definitely echoes the sleaze of its subject matter – with loads of sweet clubby lines that are heavy in the keyboard styles you'll know from "Supernature" – but maybe even leaner and meaner here – with a stripped-down punch that makes for plenty of funky disco moments! The tracks are mostly groovers, but even the few mellow moments are great – and titles include "Phonic", "Give Me Love", "Make Up", "The Loft", "Strip Tease", "Experience", and "Deauville". LP, Vinyl record album
(2013 EU Vinyl Lovers pressing, still sealed with hype sticker.)

✨✧ ZZ TopEl Loco ... LP
Warner, 1981. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
A bit later in the classic run of ZZ Top – but still before they somehow became the mid-80s darlings of MTV! Titles include their classic "Tube Snake Boogie" – plus "Ten Foot Pole", "Leila", "Don't Tease Me", "Heaven Hell Or Houston", "Groovy Little Hippie Pad", "Party On The Patio", "Pearl Necklace", "It's So Hard", and "I Wanna Drive You Home". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has some wear and aging, bent panels, and some light scrapes in front.)

✨✧ Candy Butcher/Marie Voe/Patti WagginBurlesque Uncensored – A Bare Faced Documentary ... LP
Cook, Mid 50s. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A surprisingly witty record for the Cook label – a live recording of a burlesque performance, where no cameras were admitted – complete with strip tease and crowd noise too! Back cover has an annotated copy of a letter from the sherrif – further proof of the album's sense of humor. LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ CommodoresHot On The Tracks ... LP
Motown, 1976. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
Early funk from the Commodores – back in the days when Lionel Richie could still get up and groove! We'll be the first to admit that we're sometimes put off by the group, given their later hits, but it's records like this that actually remind us how great they could be – a mixture of funk and sweet soul, done with an incredibly well-crafted approach, and enough of a blend of the two styles to keep things interesting! The album's got a wonderfully tight quality – never slick or too smooth, but just nicely put together – commercial, but not so much so that it loses its soul. Titles include "Quick Draw", "Just To Be Close To You", "High On Sunshine", "Let's Get Started", "Can't Let You Tease Me", "Come Inside", and "Thumpin Music". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Harry Mudie & King TubbyHarry Mudie Meet King Tubby's In Dub Conference Vol 1 ... LP
Moodisc, 1976. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Excellent! One of the more underrated producers, perhaps because he wasn't as prolific as some of the others in Jamaica, Harry Mudie produced a body of fine rhythms nonetheless, laced with sweet strings and beautiful melodies over heavy drum & bass workouts. He turns them over to King Tubby here, for this spacious dub set, with fat, round bass, crisp drums and just enough echoey fun to keep things interesting. This mighty set includes an awesome dub take on Mudie's version of Idris Muhammed's sought after sample track "Loran's Dance", done here as "Heavy Duty Dub". Also includes "Full Dose Of Dub", "Madhouse Dub", "Dub For The Dread", "Dub With A Difference", "Caught You Dubbing", "Roman Dubbing", "Dub Conference", "Strip Tease Dub" and "String Dub In Rema", 10 tracks in all. LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ ResidentsDuck Stab/Buster & Glen ... LP
Ralph, 1978. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
An album that originally started out as the Duck Stab EP, but was expanded with the addition of Buster & Glen songs – hence the unusual title! The material here is spooky early Residents at their best – almost without comparison to any of their contemporaries, which is saying a lot in this period before so many others were even beginning to approach their weirdness! Instrumentation is often spare, stark, and electronic – almost a precursor to the use of analogue elements that would soon make the German new wave so great, but handled here in murkier modes often combined with distorted vocals and other processing – mostly quite tuneful, but from behind a dark curtain – similar to the way the group always hid their own identity. Titles include "Krafty Cheese", "The Booker Tease", "Constantinople", "Sinister Exaggerator", "Elvis & His Boss", "The Electrocutioner", "Hello Skinny", and "Lizard Lady". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Angela BofillTeaser ... LP
Arista, 1983. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
An album that further cements Angela Bofill's relationship with Narada Michael Walden – as Walden produced almost every track in the set, and does a fair bit of songwriting too! The style is electric 80s soul, with a fair bit of keyboards and beats in the mix – but as usual with Bofill, there's an undeniable sense of warmth to the music that's totally great. Titles include "Still A Thrill", "You're A Special Part Of Me", "Gotta Make It Up To You", "Crazy For Him", "I'm On Your Side", "Call Of The Wild", and "Special Delivery". LP, Vinyl record album

Pete RugoloMusic From Richard Diamond ... LP
EmArcy, Late 50s. Very Good+ ... $6.99
Excellent work by composer/leader Pete Rugolo – Stan Kenton's old partner in modernist jazz, and the force behind excellent work by June Christy, The Four Freshmen, and others. This album's got a great "crime jazz" sound – with an approach that sort of starts at the Peter Gunn level, but which gets much crazier as the record goes on. Titles include "The Teaser", "Richard Diamond Theme", "Who's Sam?", "All Star", and "Teen Age Rock". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono blue label pressing with deep groove. Cover has some light ring & edge wear, corner bump.)

✨✧ George BensonWhile The City Sleeps ... LP
Warner, 1986. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
This one's far more of a straight soul album than most of George Benson's earlier vocal sets – but as usual, the work is pretty high caliber throughout – and George is definitely on top of his game here, effortlessly beating others at the style they'd all started to cop from Benson by the time! Production is mostly by Narada Michael Walden, with that mix of warmth and depth that graced most of his soul sides from the time – but other tracks also get production from Kashif and Tommy LiPuma, who definitely up the pop quotient on the set. Titles include "Teaser", "Shiver", "While The City Sleeps", "Kisses In The Moonlight", "Too Many Times", and "Did You Hear Thunder". LP, Vinyl record album
