new Roy AyersGet On Up Get On Down/Can't You See Me ... 12-inch
Polydor, 1979. Used (pic cover).... $14.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
Late 70s club work from Roy Ayers – a rare promo single that brings together 2 upbeat tracks from the mostly-mellow You Send Me album! "Get On Up Get On Down" is a perfect example of the way that Roy could hit the clubs without losing his soul – a cut that still retains all the odd jazzy inflections of the best Ayers groove, but which also opens up in a more focused groove. "Can't You See Me" is even better – warmly dancing with sublime vocals from Roy and some female support. Great changes, great hook, and one of those tunes that never gets old!
(White label promo, with a bit of sticker residue on one label. Cover has split top and bottom seams, staining on the front and back, and some ripping along the top and bottom of back)

new Roy AyersRunning Away (long, short) ... 12-inch
Polydor, 1977. Used .... $6.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
Doobie-doo doobie-doo! One of the catchiest Roy Ayers dancefloor tracks ever – a bassy bumping thumper that wonderfully skirts the line between clubby and funky! The track's got female vocals singing along with the hook – all in a mode that's quite similar to the most uptempo work by Ramp – and the tune may well be best known for it's famous sample use by Tribe Called Quest on their classic "Description Of A Fool"!
(Labels have a bit of pen.)

new Roy AyersBrother Green (Disco King)/Everyone Loves The Sunshine/We Live In Brooklyn, Baby (voc, inst) ... 12-inch
Urban (UK), 1971. Used (reissue).... $5.99 Out Of Stock
A killer single – one that features 3 of Roy Ayers' greatest tracks of the 70s! "Brother King" is a wicked bit of funky dancefloor from Roy – jazzed-up funk, almost a parody of disco, but with a groove that's bound to pack any dancefloor. "Everybody Loves The Sunshine" is possibly Roy's greatest track ever – a righteous slow groover with a killer hook, and amazing rhythm changes that always sound great. The single's completed by the stellar early funk track "We Live In Brooklyn Baby" – presented here in both the righteous vocal take, and a rare instrumental one – perfect for all the beatheads who've sampled the cut's cool snapping rhythms over the years!
(In an Urban sleeve.)

Montana Sextet — Heavy Vibes (original, club mix)/No Football No More ... 12-inch
Philly Sound Works, 1982. Near Mint- .... $4.99
A monster stormer from Vince Montana! The track "Heavy Vibes" is a great club track from the early 80s – with a hard rolling vibes sound that links Roy Ayers' 70s jazzy work with later programmed vibes-heavy house tracks. The club mix is especially great, and the cut's a real gem from a lost dancefloor era!
