Long-shelved early Michael Hurley material – a full album's worth recorded by folklorist and archivist Fred Ramsey Jr around 1965 – and as far as we know, these are seeing release for the first time ever, thanks to Mississippi and Nero's Neptune! It's really good stuff – mostly just Hurley and an acoustic guitar, and in a fairly plaintive mode – though not without his trademark eccentricities. It's got some alternate versions of Hurley and Holy Modal
Rounders material, plus some bits we've never heard before, too. Includes "What'llya Do/Whatt'llya Say?", "The Blues Had Gone Away", "Pretty Girl On Rollerskates", "The Tea Song", "Intersoular Blues", "I Like My Wine", "Hey Hey Hey Hey" and "I Love You Babe".
(Nice heavy vinyl – and in a great paste-on sleeve with insert notes by Michael Hurley.)
