Tony Allen — Moyege (Mark's mix, Mark's disco dub) ... 12-inch
Honest Jons (UK), 2006. New Copy .... $10.99
One of the slinkier grooves we've heard in recent years from Tony Allen – served up here in 2 mixes that both make the most of the track's snakey guitar! There's a bit more atmospherics here than heavy beats – and the tune is less of a driving Afro Funk number than a snakey cut that sounds especially well suited for the dub mix here!

Spinnerty — Gestures EP (10" single) ... 12-inch
Record Breakin, 2013. New Copy .... $9.99
Some of the sweetest work we've heard so far from Spinnerty – an EP that really just features three versions each of two tracks, but served up in ways that work together like a mini-suite of sound! "53 Pickup" has some great live drums – which really crackle alongside the beats and keyboards, and give the whole thing a great sort of energy – skittish in the main mix, spacier in a "lil Dave rmx", and then breaking like some old school funk record on the "drumapella"! "Noel's Dream" follows in a similar spirit – with great drum breaks next to the Fender Rhodes, giving things a funky feel as the keys spin out in space. There's also another funky "drumapella" version of that tune – and a more upbeat remix from J Boogie!

new Fanga — Natural Juice (Ashanti long mix, alafia style bonus beat)/I Didn't Know (orig, the tony's touch bonus beat) ... 12-inch
Cosmic Groove (France), 2007. New Copy (pic cover).... $14.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
The title track to Fanga's great Natural Juice album is served up here in a sweet extended version – one that spins out with all the skittish percussion, scratchy guitar, and snakey keyboards of a 70s Afro Funk number! The keyboard work is almost moogy at times, but never too thin – just nicely spooky – and the vocals are chanted strongly at the start, then drop out for plenty of long instrumental jamming! "I Didn't Know" is another great groove with a really Fela-like feel, and some especially nice horns – and the bonus beats on the single are both nice percussive breaks!
(Limited edition of 1000 copies.)

new Echocentrics — Don Alejo (Grant Phabao rmx)/Dundar (Grant Phabao rmx)/Pionera (clear red vinyl with download) ... 12-inch
Ubiquity, 2012. New Copy .... $9.99 10.98 Out Of Stock
A sweet mix of twangy guitar and dubby rhythms – served up here in a limited edition single! The production's mighty nice – and definitely lives up to the Echocentrics' name on "Don Alejo" – but the groove then shifts to a nicely world-styled mode on "Dundar" that's more focused and catchy, with nice female chorus vocals! "Pionera" has more great vocals along the same line – and these cool bursts of jazzy instrumentation that really help color the tune!
(Pressed on clear red vinyl, includes download.)

new Bosq with Kaleta — More Heavy/Dem Know (clear green vinyl with download) ... 12-inch
Ubiquity, 2012. New Copy .... $9.99 10.98 Out Of Stock
A mix of contemporary club and Afrobeat – served up in a sweet limited edition single! "More Heavy" starts with a bouncing beat, but gets more Afro Funk as things move on – adding in percussion and horns with a nice 70s vibe – then mixing things up even more with some excellent vocal chorus bits too! "Dem Know" has a snapping snare-heavy groove that almost feels like a classic break – lifted and reworked – but then also moves into some excellent vocals that echo Fela's sort of righteousness!
(Pressed on clear green vinyl, includes download.)

new Alain Leonard & Alex Wank — Omaggio A Lucio Fulci E Fabio Frizzi Come Anche Walter Rizzati ... 12-inch
Cineploit (Austria), 2012. New Copy (pic cover).... $19.99 Out Of Stock
A powerful tribute to the work of horror film director Lucio Fulci – served up in a package that's even more striking than his original movies! The super-deluxe effort is way more than just a single – as the whole thing is wonderfully put together, with a solid feel of a full soundtrack – especially in the way the music recreates themes by Fabio Frizzi and Walter Rizzati from original Fulci films – all with very bold, spooky instrumentation that very much in the best Italian horror mode of the 70s! Way better than we even expected – and a record that's a perfect complement to a collection of rare spooky soundtracks.
(Totally cool, very limited package! Comes on very heavy mottled yellow vinyl, with a giant 7" label in the middle – all in a heavy color cover and inner sleeve!)
