new Ino Hidefumi — Serendipity/Sentimental Promenade ... 7-inch
Innocent (Japan), 2008. Used .... $3.99 Out Of Stock
Funky and sweet – an amazing little single from Ino Hidefumi! "Serendipity" is an original from Ino – a very catchy tune built up of breaking drums and some sweet Fender Rhodes – a great melody over the top, but still a nicely deep groove on the bottom! "Sentimental Promenade" is a wonderful remake of Vladimir Costa's tune from the movie Diva – a version that still retains the great melody of the original, but really kicks things up a bit on the drums and keyboards!

Mose Allison — Autumn Song ... CD
Prestige/OJC, 1959. New Copy .... $4.99 11.98
Mose Allison's last album for Prestige Records – before moving onto even bigger fame at Columbia and Atlantic during the 60s! Unlike Allison's later sets, this one is mostly instrumental – but there are a few sweet vocal tracks that bring out the hip, rootsy lyrical modes that would make Mose a big hit with the mod scene overseas – including the classic "Eyesight To The Blind", plus "That's All Right" and "Do Nothing Till You Here From Me". The remaining piano trio sides have a great rollicking groove – rootsy, yet slightly modern too – with bass by Addison Farmer and drums from Ronnie Free – on titles that include "Promenade", "It's Crazy", "Strange", "Autumn Song", and "Groovin High".

Vladimir Cosma — Diva ... CD
Galaxie Musique, 1982. Used .... $9.99
When we were impressionable little arty tykes, this was one of our favorite soundtracks. It's got some beautiful Satie-esque tracks that feature solo piano by Vladimir Cosma, plus some weird Euro electronic stuff that has a nice cold feel to it. Also features a few tracks from the opera "La Wally", but we always skipped over these. Titles include "Voie Sans Issue", "Gorodish", "Promenade Sentimentale", "Metro Police", and "Lame De Fond".
(Out of print.)

Various — Piombo Rovente – A Journey Into The 70's Italian Police OST ... LP
Plastic (Italy), Early 70s. New Copy .... $19.99
An excellent compilation of funky 70s cop show themes put together with a very cool cover and a great selection of groovy tunes! There's lots of wah wah guitar, driving rhythms, funky flute, and cool keyboards – and the overall sound is tops if you dig crime/cop material from the 70s! A few cuts have appeared on other compilations over the years, but there's plenty of new bits, and the package is one of the nicest that Plastic Records has ever done. Artists include Riz Ortolani, Francesco De Masi, Franco Micallizzi, Guido & Maurizio De Angelis, and Pulsar – and titles include "The Blue Boat", "The Stranger Lady", "The Other Face", "New Special Squad", "Incessante", "Running Against The Time", "You'll Kill Her", "Il Libanese", "Time On My Hands", and "Hong Kong Promenade". 16 cuts in all!

new Aram Shelton — Two Cities ... CD
Delmark, 2009. Used .... $8.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
Wonderful work from a group that's filled with some of the freshest talents on the Chicago underground today – that great wave of players who are almost making for a second generation of avant expression, even in this modern era! Saxophonist Aram Shelton leads the group, and also plays clarinet – but the members really come together more with the spirit of a free collective – trading sounds and ideas with great flexibility throughout the record – really keeping things from getting too familiar or formulaic! Other group members include KeefeJackson on tenor and bass clarinet, Josh Berman on cornet, Fred Lonberg-Holm on cello, Anton Hatwich on bass, and Frank Rosaly on drums – and titles include "Western Promenade", "Two Cities", "Big News", "I Am Here You Are There", "The Twenty Seven", "Easy", and "Wontkins".
(Barcode has a cutout hole.)

new Poncho Sanchez — Poncho Sanchez & His Latin Jazz Band – Live In Hollywood ... CD
Concord, 2012. New Copy .... $16.99 18.99 Out Of Stock
Poncho Sanchez always cooks strongly – one of the best congoleros in Latin music for the past few decades – but his sound is even sharper on a live set like this! The album stands head and shoulders with any of Poncho's best records from previous years – a really classic-styled performance with tight, jazzy performances from all members of the group – and a spontaneous sort of sound that really keeps things interesting! Poncho's on congas and other percussion – and the group also features trombone, trumpet, alto, tenor, flute, piano, organ, timbales, and percussion – on a set that's mostly instrumental overall. Titles include "A Ti Nama", "Mambo Inn/On Green Dolphin Street", "Promenade", "Poncho Sanchez Medley", "Son Son Charari", "Afro Blue", and "Morning".

new Oscar Peterson — Eloquence ... CD
Limelight/Universal (Japan), 1965. New Copy .... $9.99 Out Of Stock
A sprightly mid 60s session from the Oscar Peterson Trio – one of the last live recordings from the famous lineup that featured Ray Brown on bass and Ed Thigpen on drums! The performance was captured at the Tivoli Gardens, in Copenhagen – and recorded in an open style that really gets at the easy-going and fluid feel of the trio at the time. Peterson steps out front on piano on many numbers – starting with thoughtful introductions before the bass and drums come in – and titles include "Children's Tune", "Younger Than Springtime", "Lover's Promenade", "Moanin", and "The Smudge".
