Fabulous and fantastic work from Willie Rosario – a stone cooker from his 60s years, and a set that's hopping with plenty of lively surprises throughout! As with other Rosario work of the time, there's a strong dose of jazz in the mix here – piano lines that echo the changes that were going on at the time in the music of Eddie and Charlie Palmieri, and lots of horn parts that step quickly across the top – burning with fire, and really reaching to new heights with a well-crafted sound. The group's nice and small, which gives the record a relatively lean feel – and although some cuts have vocals, it's really the instrumentation there that makes the whole thing burn! Titles include the great jazzy track "Yayi's Instant Mambo" – plus "Wobbly Blues", "A Villa Palmeras", "Los Generales De La Capital", "Mayimbe", "Bailan Guaguanco", and "Me Voy Para El Bonche".
