Kashmere Stage BandOut Of Gas But Still Burning ... LP
Kashmere Records, Early 70s. New Copy (reissue).... $9.99 15.98
A stunning batch of funky big band tracks from the Kashmere Stage Band – sounding a lot fuller than on their first LP – thanks to an expanded lineup that gives them a whole new sound! The group are grooving here in a mode that's a lot like classic 70s blacksploitation soundtrack work – with a full ensemble that features funky drums, electric bass, and keys in the rhythms, plus lots of tight funky horns over the top! Tracks are long, and groove with a jazzy flourish that we wouldn't have expected so strongly – hitting hard on plenty of nice nice numbers that include "Kash Register", "Do Your Thing", "Angel", "The Zero Point", and "Getting It Out Of My System".

Various — Kenny Dope & Keb Darge Presents Kay Dee Records Vol 2 ... CD
Kay Dee, 1970s. New Copy .... $12.99 15.98
A treasure trove of rare funk – all hand-picked by Keb Darge and Kenny Dope, two names we trust more than most when it comes to rare funk! Most of these tracks are of 70s vintage, and a handful are presented here in new edits by Kenny – not remixes, and very much in the spirit of the original 45s – but re-presented in ways that bring up the funkiest bits from the bottom! The sound quality here is great – often much clearer than the original 45s – and the package is even better than the first set – a much-needed dose of the funky Kay Dee sound for the CD market. Titles include Kenny Dope mixes of "Save The Youth" by Mellow Madness, "I Wanna Be Loved By You" by Family Of Eve, "Puddin" by Belle Farms Estate, "Shed A Tear" by Rickey Calloway, "Keep Her Happy" by Phillip Wright, and "Masterpiece" by Clarence Reid – plus the cuts "Latin Freak" by 7 Miles Per Hour Band, "Lay It On Me" by Willie Johnson, "I'm Your Man" by Spade Brigade, "Super Strut" by Kashmere Stage Band, and "What It Takes To Live" by Chosen Few Band.

new Various — Funky 16 Corners ... LP
Stones Throw, Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold .... $15.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of the best funky compilations ever! The folks at Stones Throw Records – home of some of the most funk-inspired hip hop of the past decade – have dug through the crates to come up with this incredible batch of 19 tunes, all well-researched, nicely remastered, and offered up here on a 100% legit basis! But even more than that, the selection of music is incredible – killer funky tunes of the sort that you'd shell out plenty for on 45, moving way past the standard loud funk mode, into a hip realm of jazz-tinged expression, complicated enough for today's beatheads, yet straightforward enough to keep the groove going! Titles include "Fish Head" by Slim & The Soulful Saints, "The Dump" by Soul Vibrations, "What About You" by Co Real Artists, "The Kick" by The Rhythm Machine, "Kashmere" by Kashmere Stage Band, "Tighten Up Tighter" by Billy Ball & The Upsetters, "Beautiful Day" by Spider Harrison, "Southside Funk" by Soul Seven, "In The Rain" by The Wooden Glass with Billy Wooten, and "Go To Work" by Revolution Compared To What.

Le Smoke Disque, 1970s. New Copy 2LP .... $15.99 17.98 Out Of Stock
A heavily funky and far reaching collection of tunes written by the Godfather – eclectic 60s & 70s material from all over the globe – each with a unique approach, but perfectly connected in their displays of JB's boundless funky spirit! The set includes a few tracks familiar to global deep funk diggers – but the majority of the tunes are quite fresh to our ears, and all of it's excellent, anyway. A tight Italian take on the sound from the Showman, brassy fury from the University Of Illinois Jazz Band, Latin funk from Rabbits & Carrots, a group harmonies approach from The Impalas, and much more!
