new Various — Backstreet Brit Funk – The UK's Finest Underground Soul, Jazz Funk & Disco Compiled By Joey Negro ... CD
Z Records (UK), Late 70s/Early 80s. New Copy 2CD .... $16.99 Out Of Stock
Rare British disco, club soul and jazzy funk from the late 70s & early 80s – compiled by Joey Negro – hard to find numbers from Mirage, Incognito, Hudson People, Intrigue and many more! Negro has long been a trusted compiler and he does a terrific job here – many tracks from the end of the 70s and start of the 80s that wonderfully blend the soaring, dancefloor soul and disco with masterful musicianship of jazz and funk steeped rhythms. It's not a DJ mixed set, the tracks are unmixed – but there are a number of nice Joey Negro edits. 23 tracks on 2CDs: "Summer Grooves" by Mirage, "Keep In Touch" by Freeez, "Trip To Your Mind" by Hudson People, "The Wiggle" by Stikki Stuff, "Zero One" by Surface Noise, "Sore Lip" by Ritual "Express" by 52nd Street, "Parisienne Girl" by Incognito, "Latin Dream" by The Antilles, "Bentley Boogie" by Ed Bentley, "I Wanna Dance" by The Cool Notes, "You Know Too Much" by MBT and more.

new Exits — Exits – The Legendary Lost Album ... CD
Rev-Ola (UK), 1979. New Copy .... $6.99 Out Of Stock
Glorious power pop from South London – driving work from the Exits! The spectre of early Elvis Costello hovers over The Exits, particularly in the vocal department – but the uber catchy hooks and buzzing guitars have more of an all purpose sheen. Strong stuff from the power pop underground of the end of the 70s! 13 tracks in all: "The Fashion Plague", "Cheam", "Fool To Fall In Love", "Holiday Shots", "We Broke Up Today", "School Of Intrigue", "Index Linked", "Mood Walk", "Revolt Into Style", "This Toytown Word", "Chantelle" and more.

new Nico Fidenco — Supercolpo Da 7 Miliardi ... CD
Beat (Italy), 1967. New Copy .... $16.99 Out Of Stock
Great early work from Nico Fidenco – an Italian composer we know best for his sexy work in the 70s – but who still sounds equally great here on a 60s intrigue thriller! There's some great mod touches on a few numbers – groovy tunes that have a shake and jerk rhythm that really keep things playful – mixed with a few more brooding tracks that definitely flesh out the sound – showing some mellower moments that make the record way more than just a handful of catchy instrumentals. Most styles are pretty tuneful – and there's a cool organ mode that really jumps out nicely and keeps things interesting – especially amidst the driving drums and guitar. CD features 18 tracks in all – including two vocal versions of the tune "If You Go Away".
(Limited to 500 copies.)
