Homeboy SandmanFirst Of A Living Breed ... CD
Stones Throw, 2012. New Copy .... $12.99 13.98
The dizzyingly creative rhymer Homeboy Sandman's first full length for Stones Throw – an MC who makes no bones about his against the grain stylistic approach – and it's one of the rare hip hop albums of the past couple of years to benefit from sprawling list of producer credits! Homeboy Sandman's indefatigable vocal presence is his selling point, and he's served well by a diverse backdrop of beats – and he thrives in all them! Beats by Jonwayne, Oddisee, J57, Reality, RNTC, Oh No, 6th Sense and others. Includes "Rain", "Watchu' Want From Me?", "Sputnik", "Illuminati", "For The Kids", "Cedar & Sedgwick", "Mine All Mine", "Not Really", "Th Ancient","First Of A Living Breed", "Let's Get 'Em" and more.

new Homeboy SandmanKool Herc – Fertile Crescent EP (plus download) ... LP
Stones Throw, 2013. New Copy .... $8.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
Homeboy Sandman delivers a nicely gritty EP for Stones Throw – paying tribute not only to the legendary DJ Kool Herc in the title – and ultimately honoring blueprint, funky break beats era hip hop in general! Homeboy specifically names it after Kool Herc, but it's not a covers EP or collaboration – it's more to pay tribute to the era Herc personifies, albeit in a fresh contemporary way. Sandman's rhymes are as freewheeling and creative as ever, but he's showing a bit of verbal restraint here, and he's more about solidly matching the ompellingly gritty production by Rthentic – as opposed to taking the word count to a surreal level. Great stuff – and pretty generously packed for an EP. 8 tracks in all: "My Brothers", "Oh, The Horror", "Lonely People", "Dag, Philly Too", "Moon", "Men Are Mortal", "Peace & Love" and "I".

new Blu & Exile — Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them (with download) ... LP
Dirty Science/Fat Beats, 2012. New Copy 2LP Gatefold .... $18.99 Out Of Stock
Crispy, creative work from the team of Blu & Exile – a duo who may well be one of the most creative studio talents we've heard in years! There's loads of warm acoustic samples dropped into the mix – set against a sharper edge from the production, but still delivered with plenty of soul – almost a warmly jazzy vibe we remember from early Tribe Called Quest – with a similarly playful feel. The set features guest work by I Ced, Fashawn, Homeboy Sandman, Johaz of Dag Savage, Black Spade of Hawthorne Headhunters, and ADAD – and titles include "Don't Be Jelly", "The Great Escape", "A Man", "A Letter", "Ease Your Mind", and "O Heaven".
