New Georgia Anne Muldrow & MadlibSeeds ... CD
Someothaship/Epistrophik Peach Sound, 2012. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A stunner from Georgia Anne Muldrow – a record that makes us love her even more than before – and that's saying a lot, given the love we've shown her over the years! The cover's got the feel of some dusty old record, and many of the tunes do too – some wicked 70s soul elements that are layered in nicely by Madlib, who produced the whole set – and comes up with this great blend of older warmth and that contemporary crispness that usually makes Georgia Anne sound so great! The lyrics slide wonderfully into the grooves – and although the set's often laidback, it's got a mighty punch that's undeniable – as you'll hear on tracks that include "Husfriend", "Kneecap Jelly", "Seeds", "Wind", "Calabash", "Kali Yuga", and "The Birth Of Petey Wheatstraw". WildchildTGIF (Thank God It's Funky) ... CD
Someothaship, 2014. New Copy ... $14.99 15.98
Cali mic veteran Wildchild – perhaps best known for his work with with Madlib and DJ Romes in Lootpack, one of the early Stones Throw units that helped cement that label's west coast legend – but his solo work is top shelf, too! Here he's found a nice home on Georgia Anne Muldrow's and Dudley Perkins's Someothaship label – along with his fellow Likwit Allstars – in a decidedly west coast funk mode, with production by Georgia and appearances by Chalice, Jamie Lidell, Steve Arrington, Aloe Blacc and more! ncludes "Fun-Key", "Who New", "Set It Off", "My Girls" and "Body Movin'" all feat Chalice, the Kev Brown-produced "Soldier Story" feat Aloe Blacc, "Boogaloo Anthem" feat Steve Arrington, "Which Way Is Up" feat JRO and "Jamie Lidell", "Clap", ""Caught Up", "Inspiration" and more. New Erykah BaduNew Amerykah Part Two (Return Of The Ankh) ... LP
Motown, 2010. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
The second chapter of Erykah Badu's New Amerykah – recorded for the most part, quite incredibly, during the same period and with the same collaborators as the mind-altering, murky and righteous hip hop funk experimentalism that was Part One – some months that must be among the most dizzyingly creative in Badu's career! We're reluctant to call Return Of The The Ankh a lighter listen than its predecessor, but, it's a less dense and outwardly experimental batch in the sonic realm – the emotionalism and the head nodding warmth is at the forefront, yet she's as uncompromising and real as ever. The sound is still innovative, unique and her own on all fronts, but the songs chosen for Part Two are ones you want to approach and embrace from the opening seconds – there's not as much of a tripped out overall vibe and you don't need to acclimate from a distance – these songs pull you right in! Includes collaborations with James Poyser, Shafiq Husayn, Ta'Raach, Karriem Riggins, Madlib and Georgia Anne Muldrow. Includes "20 Feet Tall", "Window Seat", "Agitation", "Turn Me Away (Get Munny)", "Gone Baby, Don't Be Long", "Love", "Out My Mind, Just In Time" and more. LP, Vinyl record album

New Jyoti (Georgia Anne Muldrow)Denderah ... LP
Someothaship, 2013. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
One of the most stunning records we've heard from Georgia Anne Muldrow in years – even more mindblowingly cosmic than just about all her other recent work! The set features mostly instrumental tracks – heavy on keyboards, both acoustic and electric – and played with this spiraling righteous vibe that recalls the 70s energy of Herbie Hancock and Lonnie Liston Smith, but with some of the trippier touches of the Madlib keyboard generation – as lots of the record veers into the distorted spaciness of Yesterday's New Quintet! But whatever the references, the set's also a very individual one too – really unique and really compelling, and put together with the feeling of a live record – even though the lack of notes make it hard to determine if this is an actual concert performance or some liveness cooked up in the studio. Titles include "Turiya's Smile", "Sup", "Optimus Prime", "Rubber Rhumba", "Denderah", "Theodosia 3:23", "Siderealin", and "Pedal Pusher". LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited edition colored vinyl.)
