Tony Allen — Moyege (Mark's mix, Mark's disco dub) ... 12-inch
Honest Jons (UK), 2006. New Copy .... $10.99
One of the slinkier grooves we've heard in recent years from Tony Allen – served up here in 2 mixes that both make the most of the track's snakey guitar! There's a bit more atmospherics here than heavy beats – and the tune is less of a driving Afro Funk number than a snakey cut that sounds especially well suited for the dub mix here!

new Tony Allen & Abayomy Afrobeat Orchestra & Bnegao — Meus Filhos (afrobeat rework, afro beatz rmx) (10" single) ... 12-inch
Comet (France), 2012. New Copy .... $12.99
A sweet little single – not just for the cool 10" format, but for the great grooves within! "Meus Filhos" is a classic funky track written by Jorge Ben – and delivered here in a tight Afro Funk mode that's way different than the original – lots of tight drums from Tony Allen at the core, great horns from the Abayomy Afrobeat Orquesta, and even a bit of vocals from BNegao! The flipside features a remix by Robin Leduc, but the sound is still very much in the best acoustic mode of the main cut – with mostly just a bit of change in the structure and a few sonic elements!

Beginning Of The End/Willie Johnson/Clarence Reid — Come On Baby (Kenny Dope edit)/Lay It On Me/'Till I Get My Share ... 12-inch
Kay Dee, Early 70s. New Copy (reissue).... $6.99
Kenny Dope takes on the funkiest sounds of the Miami Soul generation – on a single that's got more heavy funk than most full albums! Side one features a great edit of Beginning Of The End's "Come On Baby" (aka "Come Down Baby") – a groove that's just as heavy as their famous "Funky Nassau", and done with a similar blend of choppy guitar, romping rhythms, and blasting horns! Next up is Willie Johnson's amazing "Lay It On Me" – a tune that's got a really amazing bassline – one that moves faster than anything in the tune – including the blasting horns and rip-shot drums! And last is "Till I Get My Share" – one of the funkiest tunes ever from Clarence Reid – a hard and heavy number that feels a lot like the best Syl Johnson work for Twinight!

Black Renaissance/GB — Luv N Haight Edit Series Vol 4 – Magic Ritual (GB Remix, original) (clear vinyl – with download) ... 12-inch
Luv N' Haight, Mid 70s/2013. New Copy .... $9.99
A spiritual jazz classic by Harry Whitaker's Black Renaissance – plus a trippy GB remix on the other side! The original version of "Magic Ritual" is here in full – and it's essentially half of the group's classic Body, Mind And Spirit LP – a legendary session that features just 2 long tracks –done Strata East-like style, peppered with voices, both sung and spoken, in a hip, socially conscious mode. On the other side, GB uses the original's elements craft a spacey electro groover that's really in realm of its own! A haunting and heavily percussive trip!
(Limited edition on clear vinyl. Includes download.)

Darondo/Tall Black Guy & Dandy Teru — Luv N Haight Edit Series Vol 5 – I Don't Want To Leave (Tall Black Guy's Sure Know How To Love Me Re-Edit, original) ... 12-inch
Luv N' Haight, Early 70s/2013. New Copy .... $9.99
Legendary Bay Area soul numbers by Darondo – as re-edited/remixed/liberally-adapted by Tall Black Guy and Dandy Teru! First up is Tall Black Guy's take on "I Don't Want To Leave" – which uses Darando's "Sure Know How To Love Me" as it's source material. The breezy, easygoing vibe of the original carries over pretty well onto it – with a think bass sound and a tripper, spacey club soul vibe. On the flip, Dandy Teru's "Untrue" is just as free of an interpetation – using strains of Darondo's "True" a soulful springboard into the cosmos.
(Limited edition on clear vinyl. Includes download.)

Tony Allen — Ole (Moritz Von Oswald rmx)/Ise Nla (Reggae Land dub) ... 12-inch
2007. New Copy .... $11.99 Around March 1, 2013 (delayed)
A very dubby remix of this tune by Tony Allen – one that features plenty of brooding basslines amidst the percussion! The track almost takes us back to some of the first few Tony Allen singles during his Comet Records comeback years in the 90s – and Moritz Von Oswald brings a nicely abstracted feel to the music. "Ise Nla" is fairly dubby too – but in a very different way, and one that has all the Jamaican flavors you might guess from the title – including a bit of echoey horns over the top!
