Donna SummerOn The Radio – Greatest Hits Vol 1 & 2 (Japanese paper sleeve edition) ... CD
Casablanca (Japan), 1979. New Copy Gatefold .... $42.99
Ahh, the dancefloor soul perfection of the beautiful Donna Summer – and classic late 70s production by Giorgio Morodor and Pete Bellotte – songs that are played often, even to this day, but will never be played out! Was this the one that coined the phrase "shipped gold, returned platinum?" We can't remember, but whatever the case, it's one of those sets that used to be ubiquitous, but which now we can hardly ever find in good shape! Includes shorter mixes of "Love To Love You Baby" and "I Feel Love" – plus the hits for the album "On The Radio" and "Enough Is Enough". Other cuts include "Last Dance", "Hot Stuff", "Bad Girls", and a shortened version of "MacArthur Park".
(SHMCD pressing.)

Donna SummerOnce Upon A Time (Japanese paper sleeve edition) ... CD
Casablanca (Japan), 1977. New Copy Gatefold .... $40.99
A double-length, 4 act disco fantasy from Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder – both very much at the height of their powers here – and able to keep up enough energy to make it through what was originally 2LP set! The work's a unified sort of story – kind of a disco opera of sorts – but more than the lyrics or the story, what makes the album great is the rhythms – full-on and non-stop, rolling strongly from tune after tune in a highly energized blend. Titles include "Once Upon A Time", "Fairy Tale High", "Queen For A Day", "Now I Need You", "Dance Into My Life", "A Man Like You", "I Love You", and "Rumor Has It".
(SHMCD pressing.)

new Brooklyn Dreams — Sleepless Nights ... LP
Casablanca, 1979. Used .... $3.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
Late 70s grooves from Brooklyn Dreams for Casablanca – with the crossover hit "Heaven Knows" with Donna Summer – but overall it’sa pretty sweet set of late disco era numbers with slow building arrangements and harmony vocals that show a love and respect for the previous couple decades of group soul and R&B. The tunes are insistently catchy throughout and the arrangements grow more grandly as the tracks groove along, with a couple of more mellow numbers, too. Titles Include "Make It Last", "That's Not The Way That Your Mama Taught You To Be", "Sleepless Nights/Send Me A Dream", "Long Distance", "Street Man", "First Love", "Heaven Knows" feat Donna Summer and more.
(Includes the lyric sleeve. Cover has ring & edge wear, a cutout hole, and a mark from sticker removal.)

new Munich Machine — Munich Machine ... LP
Casablanca, 1977. Used .... $2.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
A self-titled set from the mighty Music Machine – a studio ensemble who were as important to the sound of European club music in the 70s as Instant Funk and MFSB were to the Philly scene in the US! The Machine features a host of players who'd previously backed Donna Summer and other Giorgio Moroder projects, stepping out here as an act on their own – grooving tightly with the kinds of stretched-out disco modes that Moroder really helped pioneer, graced by some excellent keyboards from Thor Baldursson! Most cuts have some sort of chorus vocals – sung by Madeline Bell, Sue Glover, and Sunny Leslie – and titles include the extended "Get On The Funk Train", a short remake of "Love To Love You Baby", and the cuts "Spring Affair", "Trouble Maker", "Try Me I Know We Can Make It", and "I Wanna Funk With You Tonight".
(Cover has some wear, with a small peeled mark at the opening.)

new Various — Goffin & King – A Gerry Goffin & Carole King Song Collection 1961 to 1967 ... CD
Ace (UK), 1960s. New Copy .... $15.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
The full scope of the mighty songwriting talents of Carole King and Gerry Goffin – a much-chronicled 60s team who had plenty of troubles of their own, but who brought some really amazing music to the world at the time! The package features songs in a variety of genres – soul, pop, rock, country, and more – including some appearing here on CD for the first time ever, and plenty more that aren't just the obvious Goffin/King hits! The CD features a huge booklet – nearly 25 pages in all – with track-by-track notes on the tunes, as well as on the songwriting team – and as with some of Ace's other explorations into 60s pop powerhouses, the single disc package is almost more informative and thorough than some bigger box sets. Titles include "He's In Town" by The Tokens, "Don't Ever Change" by The Crickets, "The First & The Last" by The Chiffons, "Brand New Man" by Richard Popcorn Wylie, "Let Me Get Close To You" by Skeeter Davis, "The Idol" by Bobby Vee, "I Can't Make It Alone" by PJ Proby, "Just A Little Girl" by Donna Loren, "I Can't Hear You" by Betty Everett, "I Just Can't Say Goodbye" by Bobby Rydell, "I Didn't Have Any Summer Romance" by The Satisfactions, "Yours Until Tomorrow" by Dee Dee Warwick, "So Much Love" by Ben E King, and "A Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin.

new Orgasmo Sonore — Revisiting Obscure Film Music Vol 2 ... CD
Cineploit (Austria), 2012. New Copy .... $13.99 Out Of Stock
A sublime second set of work from Orgasmo Sonore – even hipper than their first, and again a wonderful reworking of soundtrack modes from the Italian scene of the 70s! Compositions here are by Ennio Morricone, Stelvio Cipriani, Piero Piccioni, and others – but the group makes the music very much their own – by transforming the tunes with tighter, funkier instrumentation – almost giving the songs a small combo sort of feel, while still retaining all the majestic charm of the originals! The approach is mindblowing – easily one of the best contemporary experiments of this nature we've ever heard – and the record is pleasing both to ears that love vintage soundtracks, and to those that dig funky instrumentals too. Titles include "Too Risky A Day For A Regatta", "Incubi Ricorrenti", "Metropolis", "Summertime Bossa", "Volto Di Donna", "Pillage", "Les Dunes D'Ostende", "Un Ombra Nell'Ombra", "La Sconda Caccia", and "Pearls".

new Rogerio Duprat — A Banda Tropicalista Do Duprat ... CD
El (UK), 1968. New Copy .... $13.99 Out Of Stock
An amazing rare chapter of the late 60s Tropicalia saga – from the genius composer responsible for some of the most pivotal arrangements of the era! Rogerio Duprat's talent grew as a cellist with some of the most respected symphony orchestras of Brazil before he went into soundtrack work – eventually meeting Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. He did some arranging for Gilberto, leading to his arrangements on the landmark 1967 Tropicalia album featuring the giants of the era. This rare and incredible album followed in '68 – an adventurous batch of tunes with deep, profound love for sunshine/easy psychedelia! It's as gorgeously arranged as work by Van Dyke Parks, Brian Wilson and just about anyone else from any continent on the planet at the time! Os Mutantes contribute vocals to several tracks – and the set list harmoniously melds tunes popularized by the Beatles, the Cowsills, Jobim, Veloso and Gil – in a way that really follows in the spirit of the Tropicalia anthem "Baby", in the way that it recasts American and English late 60s pop ideals with a strange reconstructed Brazilian twist! Tracks include "Judy In Disguise", "Honey/Summer Rain", "Cancao Para Ingles Ver B Chiquita Bacana", "Canto Chorado/Bom Tempo/Lapinha", "Chega De Saudade", "Baby", "Cinderella Rockefella", "Lady Madonna", and "The Rain The Park & Other Things".
