Fred Bongusto — Super Fantozzi (with bonus download) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1986. New Copy .... $19.99
Fred Bongusto comes up with a plenty playful score for this goofy 80s film – the story of civilization, but from the perspective of a loser! The music moves between serious scoring and more whimsical numbers – the latter of which feature more of the 80s elements, especially keyboards, that you might expect from the date – especially on the clubby-grooving main theme. Other instrumentation is a mix of electric and acoustic – sometimes the former aping the latter – and this deluxe reissue features 28 tracks that include "Super Torneo", "Tema D'Amore Excalibur", "Fantozzo Antico", "Regata Super", "Super Maratona", "Super Shimmy", and "Super Jazz Club".

Stelvio Cipriani — Il Venditore Di Palloncini ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1974. New Copy .... $18.99
One of the most sentimental scores we've ever heard from Stelvio Cipriani – but one that also hangs onto all of his great 70s mellow modes as well! Often, Cipriani's 70s sounds are turned towards love and sex – but here, they're cast towards a heartbreaking narrative that's underscored with some great melancholy moments – a great reworking of Cipriani's usual styles that shows us another side of his genius! Warm orchestrations mix with great piano lines and isolated woodwind solos on most numbers – produced to perfection with a sweet Italian style. A few cuts get a bit more carnivalesque, but still with an undercurrent of sadness – and the CD features 15 tracks from the film, with a nice overall package too.

Stelvio Cipriani — Incubo Sulla Citta Contaminata (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Cinevox/Digitmovies (Italy), 1980. New Copy .... $19.99
A striking soundtrack for this Italian horror film – not really a zombie flick exactly, but one with a very similar bent – scored by the great Stelvio Cipriani with loads of cool keyboards and rhythms! The horror mode's definitely of the John Carpenter generation – which means that Cipriani does a great job of balancing action and space throughout – using his instrumentation sparingly at just the right moments – then surging forward to really move things along! Titles include "Sustain", "I'll Find My Way To You", "L'Attesta", "Metropolis", "Agguato", "Incubo", and "Masquerade". CD also features 18 more bonus tracks – all previously unreleased!

Stelvio Cipriani — Poliziotto Solitudine E Rabbia ... CD
Sugar/Digitmovies (Italy), 1980. New Copy .... $19.99
Lovely languid work from Stelvio Cipriani – a set that has a number of those slinky, sexy tracks we always love in his 70s soundtracks – often with keyboards slow-stepping over strings, in a way that's got plenty of Euro sex in the mix! A few more tunes get a bit upbeat – almost touches of disco at times, but never all the way – and a few more pitch things towards the spare and dramatic – with darker notes rumbling at the bottom, and even a bit of electric keys that get slightly funky too. Douglas Meakin sings on one track, but the rest are instrumental – and the set features 18 tracks in all, including two bonus alternate takes!

Stelvio Cipriani — Tentacoli (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1977. New Copy .... $19.99
Sublime Italian soundtrack funk – and one of the greatest albums ever from 70s maestro Stelvio Cipriani! The music was scored for a schlocky horror film about a giant octopus – but Cipriani's approach here goes far beyond its roots – beautifully blending together tightly compressed bass and funky drum bits with sweet electric keys and warm string touches – making for a set that slinks along with an infectious groove from start to finish! The sound is incredible – immediately seductive on the first track, and continuing to develop as the set moves on – making for an amazing soundtrack that we'd rank as one of our Italian favorites of the 70s. Titles include "Tentacles", "Small Town Pleasures", "She'll Never Come Back", "San Diego Yellow Cab", "Summer & Winter", and "Scotch For Two". CD features more tracks than the previous version – 7 more bonus tracks that are previously unreleased!

Francesco De Masi — Maciste Il Gladitaore Piu Forte Del Mondo (with bonus download) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1962. New Copy .... $19.99
Gladiator films don't get any groovier than this – and Franceso De Masi really rises to the occasion with one of his most dramatic soundtracks of the time! The music's got the usual brash horns and brooding percussion you'd expect from a film of this nature – but it also bursts forth with a power that seems to go beyond the familiar – a very vivid sense of orchestrations that can be especially colorful at times, with these flourishes on the horns that may well match the action on the screen! A few lush moments help round things out nicely – but never in a sleepy way – and the CD features 27 tracks from the film, all remastered, and with notes in English and Italian.

Francesco De Masi — Maciste L'Eroe Piu Grande Del Mondo (with bonus download) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1963. New Copy .... $21.99
Dramatic Italian action – scored to perfection by Franceso De Masi! The soundtrack's got all the best elements of the blood n sandals generation – rich orchestrations that echo the most dramatic Hollywood modes of the 40s and 50s, driving moments that almost have a fast-paced action sort of feel, and a few exotic touches that reflect the ancient setting of the story – although in ways that still echo more strongly with contemporary instrumentation. Tracks are short, but pack plenty of punch – and the CD features a whopping 33 tracks in all, including some bonus rarities too!

Guido & Maurizio DeAngelis — A Mezzanotte Va La Ronda Del Piacere ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1975. New Copy .... $21.99
A 70s soundtrack from Guido & Maurizio De Angelus – their work for 1975's A Mezzanotte Va La Ronda Del Piacere – a cool one that covers a lot of stylistic territory! This soundtrack is built with fairly stripped down sounds for the most part – small combo material with some spacey and straighter touches alike. It's got some 70s jazz funk touches along the way – in particular, the occasional keys, heavy drums and flute – plus some sweet, acoustic guitar and piano-led sequences – which range from folky to suspenseful. Includes "Mister Love", "Il Tango Delle Capinere", "Mister Love Beguine", "Carillon", "Gino", "Seduta Spiritica", "Mister Love Tango", "Imcomprensione" and more from the original 70s release – and a wealth of bonus material – alternate sequences and different orchestrations. 24 tracks in all!

Guido & Maurizio DeAngelis — Continuavano A Chiamarlo Trinita (with bonus download) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1971. New Copy .... $24.99
A beautifully sensitive soundtrack for this early film from the team of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill – very different than most of the other western music of the time – which is a fitting accompaniment to the unique actions of the pair onscreen! There's a fair bit of acoustic guitar in the instrumentation, used in ways that are sometimes warmer and more sentimental than you'd expect – played with a subtle sort of character that really comes through in this well-done reissue of the music – and which gets even better when groovier elements on piano or horns come into the mix. Things build nicely as the set moves on, with a very vivid feel throughout – and titles include "Remember", "Il Carro Al Fiume", "Assalto Alla Diligenza", "Ranch Di Parker", "Trinity E Bambino A San Jose", and "Trinity Stand Tall". Great reissue version – with excellent sound, notes in Italian and English, and even some vocal songs sung by Gene Roman.

Guido & Maurizio DeAngelis — L'Arbitro ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1974. New Copy .... $19.99
The cover's a bit goofy, but the music is a nice blend of offbeat sounds and more serious numbers – presented here in a wonderful package that includes the original unreleased album, and lots of bonus tracks too! The main theme has kind of a sentimental blend of jazzy elements, but it's also offset by other numbers that bounce around in some cool comedic modes – sometimes with a twang, sometimes with a bit more funk in the mix too – creating a sense of variety that's mighty nice! Instrumentation includes some acoustic guitar, heavy piano, and nice electric basslines – and the set features the vocal number "I'm Football Crazy" – plus lots of instrumental tracks.

Gianni Ferrio — Quei Disperati Che Puzzano Di Sudore E Di Morte ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1969. New Copy .... $18.99
A western soundtrack with a different twist – one that definitely shares some of the darker aspects of the crime score work by Gianni Ferrio! There's a few hard-driving themes, but most of the tracks are pretty spare, short, and moody – almost melancholy at points, with great spare instrumental lines on guitar or flute, occasionally augmented with a bit of strings – but in ways that differ from more familiar western modes. Surprisingly rich stuff – and this special edition from Digitmovies is loaded up – including the complete film score in mono as the first half, and the the stereo soundtrack as it was originally released as the second half of the disc – a really nice approach to give a more complete presentation! The score half of the CD includes 18 sequences off the Quei Disperati, and titles on the stereo soundtrack titles include "Uno Dopo L'Altro", "Notturno A Toiuca", "Oltre Il Confine", "Que Disperati", and "Alba Senza Speranza". 40 tracks in all!

Gianni Ferrio — Vivi O Preferibilmente Morti (with bonus tracks) (includes bonus download) ... CD
Sugar/Digitmovies (Italy), 1969. New Copy .... $19.99
A great little score from that time when Italian westerns were able to mix in equal parts humor and action – served up here in a buddy film that's got a bit of a Butch & Sundance vibe! The music is maybe more 60s playful than you'd expect – still often sweeping in a western style, but often underscored with comedic elements that correspond to some of the more offbeat action on the screen. Even the tenser moments have a sort of comedy quality – and feel more like heist-style numbers than the usual western styles – but that could also be due to the groovier modes normally used by Gianni Ferrio. This expanded edition features a heck of a lot of tracks – way more than any previous version – including vocal numbers by Lilian Terry and by the team of John Ireson and Wayne Parham. Titles include "Falling In Love With A Pretty Girl", "Young Man Go West", "Two Not So Peaceful Brothers", "Monty & Ted", "Let's Keep Our Fingers Crossed", and "Working Hard".

Romolo Grano — L'Amaro Caso Della Baronessa Di Carini ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1975. New Copy .... $19.99
There's some great spooky touches here from Romolo Grano – including wordless vocals from Edda Dell'Orso, and moog from Grano himself – used beautifully to score this unusual soundtrack from the 70s! The main theme is an older-style Italian number, sung by Luigi Proietti – but the instrumental music really creates a different mood – and has this mix of Morricone-like horror and some French-style warmth – wrapped together nicely! Some tunes are heavy on moog, others feature piano, or solo voice – and the CD features 17 tracks in all, all with great remastering.

Angelo Lavagnino — Venere Imperiale ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1962. New Copy 2CD .... $26.99
A lavish, quite beautiful score by Angelo Lavagnino – his music for Venere Imperiale from 1962 – beautiful work given the proper respect with 2CD deluxe package from Digitmovies! The film concerns the love life of Paolina Bonaparte, the sister of Napoleon – so you can expect a lush, grand scale – but it's done with a delicate, lovely and intimate touch by Lavagnino. Really lovely stuff – with a string-heavy romantic weep and more subtle sounds in nearly equal measure. The 2CD set starts the original album material – which is followed by the complete film score – 36 tracks on 2CDs! Title include "Venere Imperiale", "La Famiglia Bonaparte", "Festa A S. Domingo", "La Cavalcata Di Canouville", "Nello Studio Di Canova", "Fanfrara Francesce", "La Mongolfiera" and more.

Franco Micalizzi — E Alla Fine Lo Chiamarono Jerusalem L'Implacabile ... CD
Sugar/Digitmovies (Italy), 1972. New Copy .... $19.99
One of the more laidback western soundtracks we've ever heard – and we mean that in a great way! Franco Micalizzi seems to work here in a way that's more focused on the overall music than the genre of the film – and turns in some really beautiful slow-stepping numbers – some with a bit of fuzz, some a bit of acoustic guitar – often in a warmer style than the usual western score, with a lyricism that's really striking on some of the tracks! Instrumentation includes some cool distorted old piano, a bit of flute, and fuzzy keyboards – and the set includes the vocal number "When Spring Is In The Air" – and 12 more instrumental numbers.

Franco Micalizzi — Lo Chiamavano Trinita (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1970. New Copy .... $24.99
One of the grooviest spaghetti western scores we've ever heard – penned for an early collaboration between Terence Hill and Bud Spencer! The main theme "Trinity" starts off with some cool vocal backing by Alessandro Alessandroni's I Cantori Moderni, singing underneath the English-language lead vocal – and the group also make an appearance on the film's reprise of this song at the end of the movie. Other tracks mix together guitar, organ, whistling, and some other cool sonic elements that give the soundtrack a cool late 60s feel that reminds us more of some lost French gem than an Italian thriller! Titles include "Lazy Cowboy", "Un Cowboy e Due Ragazze", "Di Fronte Ai Killers", "Trinity: Con La Stella Di Viceseriffo", and "C'e Un Tempo Per Vincere". CD also features 12 more bonus tracks – including alternate versions and music from a rejected score!

Somehow, this plot provides for a soundtrack filled with funky bass and drums, flute, breathlessly cooed wordless vocals and other 70s dancefloor touches! Ennio Morricone — Escalation ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1968. New Copy .... $18.99
A killer soundtrack from Ennio Morricone – just the sort of work for which he's remembered so strongly today! Some of the best non-western Morricone elements are in place here – spacious scorings, wordless vocals, and odd twists and turns on instruments that are often hard to determine! Darker sounds jangle together with lighter ones beautifully – and a few cuts feature great vocals from I Cantori Moderni, sometimes quite spooky, sometimes a bit more mod. The title track has a great romping rhythm and echoey fuzz guitar – titles include "Escalation", "Dies Irae Psichedelico", "Collage No 1", "Funerale Nero", "Matrimonio", and "Secondo Rito". CD features new stereo remastering, and a total of 17 tracks in all – much better than the previous version!

Ennio Morricone — Ogro (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1979. New Copy .... $19.99
A rare Ennio Morricone soundtrack from the late 70s – recorded at a time when the maestro was moving onto bigger fame in the US, yet could still create a great old school score when he wanted! The style here is nice and dark – lots of spare, isolated sounds – especially off-tuned piano – used in ways that recall some of the best dramatic Morricone moments of the earlier part of the decade – with all the sharp sounds and stark styles that might imply! A few occasional themes echo the political tone of the film, but the whole thing's still a Morricone masterpiece all the way through – with titles that include "Canto Basco", "Atto Di Dolore", "Notte Oscura Notte Chiara", "Antefatto E Preparazione", "Flashback", and "Camioncino Misterioso". CD also features 8 more bonus tracks – and great remastering too!

Bruno Nicolai — Corri Uomo Corri ... CD
CAM/Digitmovies (Italy), 1968. New Copy .... $14.99
Plenty of exotic themes in this lesser-known Italian western score from the 60s – bits of flute, bits of whistling, and even some vocals from I Cantori Moderni! Mellower moments are nicely juxtaposed with more dramatic ones – underscoring the mix of romance and drama that follows the story of the film. I Cantori appear on more of the former – singing somewhat quietly and sweetly, with a very warm finish – in ways that are a bit different than their other work of the time, and almost sentimental at points. Alessandro Alessandroni handles the whistles and guitar in the work – and Bruno Nicolai handles the larger orchestrations. This CD reissue really augments the previous soundtrack from CAM – adding in lots more bonus tracks, especially some more orchestral ones. Titles include "Tema Dolores", "Allegro Chuchillo", "La Sfida", "Il Mondo Di Chuchillo", "Mulini A Vento", "Viaggio", "Espanto En El Corazon", "Duello", "Verso Il Texas", and "Fuga Dall'Ovest".

Bruno Nicolai — Fenomenal E Il Tesoro Di Tutankamen ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1968. New Copy .... $14.99
A groovy late 60s Italian heist soundtrack – one that's very much in the spirit of the scores for Satanik and Diabolik – but which features particularly great music from Bruno Nicolai, and a fair bit of vocals from I Cantori Moderni and Edda Dell'Orso! The tracks are a mix of shorter, brooding numbers and more upbeat, mod-styled ones – the latter of which feature romping "action" rhythms that often include a fair bit of vocals from the Cantori group – scatting along wonderfully with the music, as they did in Seven Golden Men or Slalom! The production here is wonderful too – a whopping 30 tracks in all, finally brought to light in the first-ever album release of the work – all done with the usual very high Digitmovies standards. A great lost bit of late 60s Italian – finally done justice on CD!

Piero Piccioni — Finche C'E Guerra C'E Speranza ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1974. New Copy .... $19.99
An overlooked gem from the mighty Piero Piccioni – scored for a 70s comedy with Alberto Sordi, and served up with some nice global touches in the music! The best tunes have a bouncy sound that's almost samba – but inflected with a lot of Italian soundtrack charm – which makes for a mixing of modes that's completely charming, and almost a warmer bossa take on a batucada style! Some tunes get even more stripped-down, with elements that show the orchestral work from Berto Pisano – and I Cantori Moderni lend chorus vocals to a few moments too. Titles include "Pic Nic Calypso", "West Africa", "Sketch Notturno", "Safari Esquisito", and "Eexperanca Em Lab Com Rugido Do Leao". Features 3 previously unreleased bonus tracks too!

Aldo Piga — 5 Tombe Per Un Medium/Il Mostro Dell'Opera ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1962/1966. New Copy .... $22.99
Rare work from Aldo Piga – one of the lesser-known Italian film composers of the 60s! The set begins with a great mid 60s score for 5 Tombe Per Un Medium – used in that maturing mode of dramatic styles that you'd hear more in Brit horror films of the time – lush, yet with spare moments – this great sense of darkness that almost seems to come from the way the music's often more well-arranged than the images and performances on the screen! CD features 15 tracks from the film – including two bonus alternate numbers! Next is Il Mostro Dell'Opera – equally lush at points, but in a more old school sort of way – and peppered with a few really cool dramatic effects that are mighty nice – spooky sounds that almost work with a visual sense of their own! CD features 15 numbers from that film too – one of which is a rare theremin bonus track.

Carlo Rustichelli — Divorzio All'Italiana (aka Divorce Italian Style) (2CD version – with bonus tracks) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1962. New Copy 2 CDs .... $26.99
A classic Italian score from Carlo Rustichelli – penned for a famous early comedy from Marcello Mastroianni! The mood of the film is a bit lighter than some of Marcello's with Fellini – and as a result, so is the soundtrack – put together with a mixture of sprightly melodies and older, warmer modes that really the Italian film score mode of the previous decade – but which are masterfully handled by Rustichelli with a tongue-in-cheek approach that's more of a parody of them than anything else! The blend is quite nice – and almost visual enough even without the images on the screen. Titles include "Divorzio", "Canto D'Amore", "Traffico", "Marcia Funebre", "Musica D'Amore", and "Serenata". Rousing peplum soundtrack work from maestro Carlo Rustichelli – with his work for Il Figlio Di Cleopatra and Coriolano, Eroe Senza Patria – 2 great soundtracks from 1964! Most of the CD is devoted to Il Figlio Di Cleopatra – and it's exciting stuff! The strings really lead the way on this one, which really soar in the grander moments, and stir elegantly in the more subtle ones – with some great, galloping percussion and seductive winds when needed. About 75% of this great Digitmovies CD is the Cleopatra material – but it closes with 5 sequences of the title theme for Coriolano, Eroe Senza Patria – which was all of the new original material Rustichelli specifically composed for that film – and it nicely bookends this great Digitmovies CD!

Digitmovies (Italy), 1965/1966. New Copy .... $21.99
Great 60s grooves from Carlo Savina – two playful comedic scores from the 60s, both filled with whimsical instrumental touches! Veneri Al Sole is excellent right from the start – with a Piero Piccioni-like blend of jazz, Latin rhythms, and some mod 60s instrumentation – especially on organ, electric harpsichord, and vibes, which both ring out on some of the album's best tracks – in ways that have sonic properties that go way beyond their familiar use! The record's a great example of the way that 60s Italian composers were really changing things around – and that spirit follows strongly on Veneri In Collegio – a set of tracks that's almost more vivid overall – especially in the way it uses wider woodwind passages to flesh out the sound. CD features 26 tracks in all – with great remastering!

new Gianni Ferrio — Gringo, Getta Il Fucile ... CD
Sugar/Digitmovies (Italy), 1967. New Copy .... $16.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
Part western, part Latin American – yet also filled with lots of weird and groovy touches – a compelling set from 60s Italy that goes way way way past the obvious! The set begins with an acoustic guitar over dramatic scoring, but then moves into modes that include mod rhythms, pan flute, spacey organ, and more – all spun out with a very different flavor on every different track – so much so, you might actually think the whole album's a collection of tunes from different movies, rather than a soundtrack in itself! Gianni Ferrio really knocked it out of the park with this one – and the reissue features 15 tracks in all, remastered with great sound!

new Angelo Lavagnino — La Maja Desnuda (The Naked Maja) (with bonus tracks – and bonus download) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1958. New Copy 2 CDs .... $25.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
A richly expanded version of this classic soundtrack – done from original mono tapes, and featuring a huge amount of previously undiscovered music! At the core is a compelling score from Angelo Lavagnino – one that features all the lush, romantic touches you'd know from his Italian work – but which also has plenty of Spanish inflections, too – all in support of the film's story of the painter Goya! There's definitely a sense of Hollywood romanticism to the music – but the Spanish elements also come off well, too – and help undercut the obvious with maybe more of a sense of European timelessness. Carlos Savina conducted – and in addition to 23 songs from a previous CD issue, presented here on new mastered versions, the set also features 32 more film versions and alternate takes – all previously unissued!

new Ennio Morricone — Grazie Zia ... CD
CAM/Digitmovies (Italy), 1968. New Copy .... $19.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
A really amazing soundtrack from Ennio Morricone – presented here with the full range of tracks for the first time ever! The music uses some wonderful vocals – sung in a style that's pop, but very creepy too – that way that Morricone vocals can have of being almost chant-like, and sort of satanic! Biance Di Renata Cortiglioni is the singer, and she's much more word-based than Edda Dell'Orso – and it appears that her vocals are overdubbed to create this cool sort of chorus effect – one that only makes the whole thing sound even creepier! In addition to the snapping rhythms of the vocal tunes, there's also some nice sprightly elements on the instrumental cuts too – not upbeat or funky, but an offbeat way that's got a jaunty snare for propulsion. Titles include "Fratello Biondo", "Guerra E Pace Polle E Brace", "Amore Col Cuore", and "Grazie Zia". 14 tracks – with images from the film too.

new Ennio Morricone — L'Immoralita ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1978. New Copy .... $19.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of those wonderful Ennio Morricone moments where a little does a lot – where mellow moves us the most – and where simple, spare sounds can have a tremendous amount of power! The film's a creepy one (a young girl lets a hunted killer into her family's house, who then makes love to her, and is killed by her, as is her mother!) – but Morricone's soundtrack has a great way of mixing the optimistic with the offbeat – using these elegant little piano lines over gently lilting strings, and bringing in some occasional voice from Edda Dell'Orso, but used in ways that are even more spare than usual! The result is a set of variations on the film's main melody – swelling, dipping, and turning in ways that change up nicely, but without ever losing the core energy of the theme. Completely beautiful – and with titles that include "Perche", "E Domani", "Perche Simona", "La Voliera", "Il Giardino", and "La Villa".

new Ennio Morricone — La Tarantola Dal Ventre Nero ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1971. New Copy .... $16.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
A groovy giallo score from Ennio Morricone – done for director Paolo Cavera's La Tarantola Dal Ventre Nero, aka Black Belly Of The Tarantula – full of spare, dissonant tension and hauntingly effective moodiness! The tunes Morricone did for the film are a perfect example of his haunting style of mixing keyboards, spare instrumentation, and breathy wordless female vocals, courtesy Edda Dell'Orso – and we'd rank this one right up there with classics like La Donna Invisible! Titles include "Coiffeur Pour Dames", "La Tarantola Dal Ventre Nero", "L'Abbraccio Caldo Della Tarantola", "Nell'Ultima Stanza", "Col Cuore In Gola", "Spirale Misteriosa", "Lugebre", "Ventre Nero", "Ragnatela" and more.

new Bruno Nicolai — Perche Quelle Strane Gocce Di Sangue Sul Corpo Di Jennifer? ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1971. New Copy .... $15.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of the greatest soundtracks we've ever heard from Bruno Nicolai – a wonderful array of lightly groovy tunes that's as fantastic as any of the Mondo Morricone work from the same time! The main theme of the film has a catchy La Donna Invisible sort of feel – building on waves of sound with piano over orchestrations, skipping along to an altered bossa beat – showing up in a number of different variants throughout the score. Other tracks are darker and moodier, but really vary things up to fit the moods of the scene – using Morricone-styled bits of harpsichord, violin, or strings to come up with some incredible sounds. The CD reissue features 26 titles in all – many of which are restored from the shortened versions in the movie, in a way that presents a huge amount of music never heard before!

new Stelvio Cipriani — L'Uomo Piu Velenoso Del Cobra ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1971. New Copy .... $19.99 Out Of Stock
A very cool early 70s soundtrack by Stelvio Cipriani – and done with a killer jazz funk style! L'Uomo Piu Velenoso Del Cobra is a seedy Italian flick with globetrotting murder mystery plot – and the Cipriani's vibe here is clearly informed by Lalo Schifrin's work from the mid 60s to early 70s – and especially his theme for Mission: Impossible. Stelvio is riffing on maestro Schifrin's style here, but he's not ripping it off – as there's a charming loungey jazz funk groove here that's as unique is it is reverent! Lots of groovy organs, some killer horns, strongs and a swinging early 70s rhythm. Great stuff! 19 sequences on the title theme.

new Stelvio Cipriani — Le Mans Scorciatoia Per L'Inferno ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1970. New Copy .... $19.99 Out Of Stock
Nothing like a race film to bring out the best in a soundtrack composer – and that's definitely the case with this rare gem from Stelvio Cipriani! The music's got a feel that's somewhere between the light Italian styles of the late 60s, and some of the bolder French moments of the time – a touch of Legrand or Lai, perhaps – alongside these dreamy elements that are definitely Cipriani's own! There's more jazz than usual for Stelvio – and although some instrumentation is electric, it's more in a 60s style than some of the keyboards he'd use a few years later. Edda Dell'Orso does a great job on the theme – and one more number features vocals by Oympia. Very cool throughout – and with a total of 19 tracks in all!

new Stelvio Cipriani — Un Povero Ricco (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1983. New Copy .... $18.99 Out Of Stock
A beautiful soundtrack from the under-reissued 80s years of Stelvio Cipriani – and a set that's every bit as sparkling and keyboard-heavy as his best work of the 70s! The score's got a slightly sweet feel, but one that's handled wonderfully in Cipriani's slow-moving, sexy-styled sort of way – spare melodies on the keyboards stepping out with enough of a whimsical feel to match the movie's theme. Yet there's never any of the too-commercial modes you'd hear in an American film of this vintage – things are completely charming throughout, with all the best bits we'd expect from the maestro. Titles include "Exuberant Youth", "Girl In Blue", "Figurations", "For The Last Time", "Sprite", "Blue Tears", and "Sunday At Four". CD features 13 more bonus tracks – and great sound throughout!

new Carlo Rustichelli — I Due Vigili/Ma Chi T'Ha Dato La Patente (with bonus download) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1967/1970. New Copy .... $22.99 Out Of Stock
A pair of very groovy soundtracks – back to back on a single CD! I Due Vigili is a real departure from Carlo Rustichelli – and a score that has him in the best mod territory of Piero Piccioni and Armando Trovajoli – with lots of cool guitar, sweet Hammond lines, and other hip instrumental touches that make for tunes that are as groovy as they are playful! There's still a few echoes of early 60s Italian scoring at times, but most numbers have a great bouncy comedic feel – and the CD features 11 tracks from the film, including one unused number! Ma Chi T'Ha Dat La Patente is pretty great too – with some very cool moments that include a whimsical main theme with echoey whistling, some jazzier interludes, and weird use of voices and guitar at points! The whistling enough is more than enough to draw us in – and the CD features 9 tracks from the film!

new Carlo Rustichelli — Signore & Signori (aka The Birds, The Bees, & The Italians) (with bonus tracks & download) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1967. New Copy .... $25.99 Out Of Stock
An extremely groovy soundtrack from Carlo Rustichelli – one that bridges two generations of Italian comedy scores! At one level, there's a bouncing melodic feel to the score – done in a very Nino Rota-esque way, with plenty of jazzy touches on electric guitar, and some extremely captivating tunes. At another level, there's more of the mod 60s approach at work too – particularly in the way Pier Luigi Urbini interprets the score, and in the way the whole thing's recorded. Very nice stuff – and filled with classic Italian-styled tunes! Titles include "Night Dance", "Il Ricatto", "La Domenica", "Chiacchiere", "Prima Della Festa", and "Sarabanda Allegra". Great CD version features 10 more bonus tracks, including some rare mixes – 26 titles in all!

new Carlo Savina — Ombre Roventi ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1970. New Copy .... $19.99 Out Of Stock
Human sacrifice never sounded so groovy – thanks to a wicked score from Carlo Savina, who really knocks it out of the park with this one! The leadoff theme is jaunty, bouncy, and almost more of a mod 60s Italian number – and the score that follows often has some other groovy touches, mixed with passages that bring in a bit of jazz, and a few more exotic elements too – the last of which are more of what you'd expect for a horror soundtrack of this nature, yet never seem to dominate too much. There's a great sense of pacing going on here – a shifting of themes as things move on, and a blend of tighter elements with some rougher percussion that almost feels like the demonic ready to break loose! Reissued with a whopping 20 tracks – and some sublime remastering.

new Piero Umiliani — La Vendetta Di Lady Morgan ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1965. New Copy .... $19.99 Out Of Stock
A rare gothic horror soundtrack by Piero Umiliani – and it's a great one – with sounds that range from melodic, orchestral mood music to spare, eerie-as-hell experimental effects! The title sequence that kicks the soundtrack off is actually quite pretty – with some wonderfully acoustic guitar that leads into some lovely, if necessarily ominous strings. It gets darker and creepier from there, though – with some disquieting, ghostly electronic effects – and with those paired up with classical strings, it really makes for a unique and chilling atmosphere! Includes 14 sequences on the title theme.

new Stelvio Cipriani — L'Assassino E Al Telefono ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1972. New Copy .... $18.99 Out Of Stock
A beautifully moody score from Stelvio Cipriani – a perfect illustration of his unique talent for creating sounds that are slow, yet funky – slinky, yet never cheesy – a rare and wonderful approach to tension and action in the 70s! Most numbers here have a slow-stepping electric bassline – moving very gently, to prompt other instrumentation on piano, guitar, or even fuller strings – all in gently melodic ways that work perfectly with the rhythms – and have a quality that's warmly dramatic, and never overdone – different than some of Cipriani's crime or sex scoring. CD features the full original album, beautifully remastered, plus tracks from singles too – a beautiful set throughout!

new Claudio Gizzi — Il Mostro E In Tavola Barone Frankenstein/Dracula Cerca Sangue Di Vergine E Morti De Sete ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1973/1974. New Copy 2CD .... $24.99 Out Of Stock
A double set of macabre soundtracks to Paul Morrissey's 70s eroticism laced odes to classic lit and movie monsters – Il Mostro E In Tavola Barone Frankenstein, aka Flesh For Frankenstein, and Dracula Cerca Sangue Di Vergine E Morti De Sete, aka Blood For Dracula and Andy Warhol's Dracula – in a great 2CD set! Both films were shot in Italy with star Udo Kier and many of the same actors, and both are quite beautiful! Il Mostro E In Tavola Barone Frankenstein is surprisingly delicate, with lots of piano and elegant strings, leading up to tenser and more dramatic passages. "Frankenstein's Theme", "Dinner AT The Castle", "Love And Death", "End Of A Myth", "Death Of The Baron" and many more. 20 bonus tracks (!!!) made up of additional, unused music. Dracula Cerca Sangue Di Vergine E Morti De Sete is a similar piece of work, but more richly string-laden, and ultimately just as strong – with some old fashioned European dance-styled songs. Includes "Old Age Of Dracula", "On Journey Again", "The Last Victim", "More Blood", "Nostalgia", "In The Cellars Of The Castle" and more, including 13 bonus tracks.

new Miklos Rozsa — Providence (with bonus tracks) (includes bonus download) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1976. New Copy .... $23.99 Out Of Stock
A beautiful later score from the legendary Miklos Rosza – a masterpiece that draws on all of his many years in film, yet serves things up with a more subtle approach than before! There's a sense of space here that we don't always hear in Rosza – almost a pausing between the notes, creating a sense of reflection that really expands the gentle sentiment of the tunes – while still building to a bit of drama at a few key moments. Nothing here is overdone at all – and the soundtrack is a great reminder that in the serious film score world, away from the hits, the mid 70s could be a very golden period! Titles include "Providence", "Sonia Et Le Saint Suaire", "Feuillages", "Poursuite", and "Valse Crepusculaire". CD features 15 more bonus tracks – all previously unreleased!

new Carlo Rustichelli/Stelvio Cipriani & David Whitake — Una Su 13 (Italian & American Theatrical versions) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1969. New Copy 2CD .... $24.99 Out Of Stock
An excellent double-header – and a very cool collection that brings together two different scores for the film Una Su 13 – one used in the Italian release, the other for the American version! Carlo Rustichelli handled the Italian tracks – and he brings his great legacy of comedic scoring strongly into play – using some romping rhythms, playful horn passages, and a few modder moments to really keep things moving – with some especially nice use of vocals from I Cantori Moderni on a few of the standout groovers! The American release is even better – scored by Stelvio Cipriani and David Whitaker, who bring in way more music than before – and hit lots of cool 60s mod and fuzz modes! There's definitely a freakbeat element to many tracks here – a bouncing, jerking set of rhythms that are mighty nice – given lots of sweet organ and guitar lines to really underscore the 60s elements in the music – offset by a few lighter Italian touches that still sound mighty nice! There's a whopping 36 tracks on the American version – plus another 13 tracks from the Italian one – making the set a treasure trove of under-discovered musical gems!

A weird soundtrack to what sounds like an even wierder movie – Stelvio Cipriani's synthy score for the 1988 flick La Notte Degli Squali – which starred a young Treat Williams as a shark hunter who takes on the mob! new Mario Nascimbene — Le Baccanti ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1961. New Copy .... $14.99 Out Of Stock
Heavenly sounds from Mario Nascimbene – one of the more compelling soundtracks we've heard from the Italian peplum years! The music floats along beautifully – often light woodwinds, or light chorus passages to handle the melody – and some spare percussion moving quietly to create just the hint of rhythm. The approach moves far from some of the more dramatic cliches of the genre, and comes across with a sensitivity that's really striking – a lot more than you might expect! CD features 17 tracks from the film – all beautifully remastered.
