10 excellent roots rock rhythms given a nice dub treatment, and though we're selling this record as most shops do, as a King Tubby side, we'd be willing to wager he actually wasn't around his studio when this was mixed, and certainly wasn't around Joe Gibbs' or Bullwackies when the cuts included here from those spots were mixed. Still it's a great set of rhythms, all with excellent spaced out dub mixes, and burning performances at the hands of Sly & Robbie, Family Man, Bagga Morris, Santa Davis, Augustus Pablo and others. With "Rocker's Almighty Dub", "Dunza Dub", "Storm & Lightning", "Something Nice Bout Da Dub", "Upful & Positive Dread", "Hold this Dub" and "21 Gun Salute to Brother Marcus".

We're not entirely certain of the precise connection to Pablo here, as this set is credited as Augustus Pablo Presents, but it's excellent all the same – and there is some tasty knob twirling courtesy of the master King Tubby! There's some sweet melodica blowing over some rhythms that sound like they date from the late 70s at the earliest to us, and Pablo's given songwriting credit on most of these tunes. The real deal! Includes "House Raid", "Shake Down", "Shake Up", "Gun Trade", "Hillside Airstrip", "Barbwire Disaster", "Road Block", "Big Rip Off", and "Curly Dub".

Benchmark Scientist dub – great stuff recorded and mixed at King Tubby's near the end of the 70s – and it's some of tightest, heaviest dubs of the period! Scientist works over some of the heftiest Aggrovator sides on this legendary set – one of favorite dub records, period! One particular standout is a great take on the "Drum Song" rhythm – but the whole set is inmpeccable! Other titles include "Taxi To Baltimore Dub", "Satta Dread Dub", "Every Dub Shall Scrub", "Blacka Shade Of Dub" and "Just Say Dub. . .Who". 10 tracks in all. This 3 X 10" box set version is very nicely done – with to 2 dubs per side – closing out with 2 bonus tracks: "Queen Of The Icotion" and "Party Time On The Enterprise".

Seminal Dee Jay numbers from one of the men who's help usher in the Dancehall era in Jamaican music. Nkrumah Thomas's tracks are steeped in the roots tradition, but were looking ahead to the newer sounds rocking the Island as the musical climate changed, ad this classic album showcases the man at the top of his game, both on the mic and as producer. 10 champion tracks in all, including "Mister Walker", "Dance On The Corner", "General 007", "Trackas-Trackas", "Natty Dread The Traveller", "Cricket Lovely Cricket", "Best Dress", "Bad Man Entry" and "Marijuana-Marijuana".

Rootsy work from the 70s – not disco style, per the title! We don't care whether you dub him the original Ragnam Piza or the Dub Organizer, Dillinger chats it up in nice style on this set of bouncing Bunny Lee rhythms, keeping himself busy, so you don't have to! The bionic dread unleashes a storm of microphone fury, with each track followed by it's dub version, on cuts like "African World Wide", "Truth & Right", "Don't Take Another Man's Life", "Trial & Crosses" and "Jah Show Them The Way". 12 in all.

Another massive Tubby dub collection, but you might never know it from the cheap looking cover. Mid to late 70s dub workouts of Striker Lee tracks cut by the mighty Aggrovators, some with radical dub effects and one drops, others with a nice and subtle touch flavoring the mix. 14 tracks: "Bondage Dub", "Irce Man Dub", "Spliff Dub", "Babylon Dub", "Giveaway Love Dub", "African Congo Dub", "Ready Out Dub", "African Tribal Dub", "Winds Of Dub", "Forgive & Forget Dub", "Strong Love Dub", "Me Lover Gone Dub", "Wicked Man Dub" and "Out Of This World Dub".

A dozen Aggrovators jams from the golden age of Jamaican music, all with Tubby's expert knob twirling taking them into the next dimension. We aren't entirely certain, we'd hazard a guess that these are all Bunny Lee productions, filled out nicely with fat bass, crisp hi hats and a heavy thumping kick, punctuated nicely by dubby reverb and echoplex. With "King Of The Arena Dub", "No Partial Dub", "Crazy Baldhead Dub", "A Living Dub", "Destroy Dub Style", "Book Of Numbers Dub" and "Natty Roots Man Dub".

Truly, truly one of the most essential reggae albums of all time, and without a doubt one of our top dub albums. While we may be known for our hyperbolic comments on LPs here at Dusty, this album is very much deserving of the praise, and if you don't own it, you need to. Basically a collection of dubs of rhythms for some of Pablo's most popular productions as vocal cuts on 45s that had rocked the sound systems, this set features a mighty rockers rhythm team and mixing courtesy Errol Thompson and King Tubby. All solid tracks. Split roughly in half between Perry's nicely gritty instrumental moodcraft and hazy vocals, this collection features some uber prime Upsetters material. It's all hear – heavily rumbling bass grooves, tripped out, though spiritually resonant vocals and just enough of smoky haze without getting too thick to breathe. Amazing stuff! Includes "Scratch The Dub Organizer", "Bush Weed Corn Trash", "When Jah Come", "Curley Dub", "Serious Joke", "Who You Gonna Run To" and "Tighten Up".

There's a dozen of the Upsetter's finest rhythms rendered in dub versions here, and though he's uncredited on the sleeve, we've read that King Tubby was responsible for the wonderful reverb and mixing console action taking these tracks to the next level. Essential! Includes "Blackboard Jungle Dub (version 1)", "Rubba, Rubba Words", "Cloak A Dagger (version 3)", "Dreamland Dub", "Fever Grass Dub", "Sinsemilla Kaya Dub", "Moving Forward", "Kasha Macka Dub" and "Setta Iration Dub".
