A pair of albums from Brian Auger
– back to back in a single set! Here & Now in obscure 80s groover from keyboardist Auger
– one that continues the journey into soulful sounds from his earlier years, but with a feel that's a bit more modern R&B overall! Brian
does most of the singing, and handles plenty of Hammond and Fender Rhodes – and the tunes are short and catchy, with a nice sort of punch overall. Titles include "The Hurricane", "Downtown Hookup", "Heart Of The Hunter", "The Seeker", and "They Say Nothing Lasts Forever". Keys To The Heart has Brian Auger
still handling some of the best keyboards of yore – including Hammond organ and Fender Rhodes – but the overall production's a bit more modern, especially on the rhythm tracks, which often bring an 80s R&B fusion mode into play. Some cuts still have a bit more of an old school vibe – particularly the Hammond numbers – and Dick Morrissey plays tenor and soprano sax in the album's small group. Titles include "Blue Note Shuffle", "Pacific Coast Highway", "Sundown", "Mary Bing's Boogie", "Forget Me Now", and "Pools". CD features 5 bonus tracks – including "If You're Going To The City", "Sea Of Tranquility", "Searching For Your Love (demo)", "You're Breaking My Heart (demo)", and "Downtown Hookup (demo)".
