BreakestraDeuces Up, Double Down EP ... 12-inch
Stones Throw, 2002. Near Mint- (pic cover).... $5.99
The funky titans are at it again! "Deuces Up, Double Down" is a killer new track from the group – an original tune written by drummer Miles Tackett, with a heavy scattershot beat at the bottom, and lots of loud, fast, honking horns over the top. The guitar player's licking away at the cut too, and the whole thing's a delightful romping funky groove – offered up here in an extended mix! The 12" also includes a great cover of "Humpty Dump", the scratchy guitar groover originally cut by The Vibrettes – plus "Humpty Dump" bonus beats.

new BreakestraLive Mix Part 2 ... CD
Stones Throw, 2001. Used .... $5.99 Out Of Stock
Funky madness! This one's exactly what is says – a live mix, recorded by this hip funky combo, sort of a mixtape of classic funky tunes, all slammed together in one massive performance! Breakestra run through some of the biggest funky 45s of the 60s and 70s, jamming hard in one live to tape performance that takes us back to the classic days of the JBs grooving in the studio with James Brown. Plenty of choppy guitars, hot bubbly organ, sweet keyboard licks, and hard heavy horns throughout!

Various — Shake-A-Leg ... LP
Perfect Toy (Germany), 1970s/2000s. New Copy .... $12.99
A funky & far reaching compilation on Perfect Toy! Shake-A-Leg features Afro Beat, jazz funk, funky hip hop and raw soul – compiled by Tobias Kirmayer and Jerker Kluge – highlighting the kinds of grooves they spin at their monthly club nights in Munich! Includes hip hop funk from Othello & DJ Vajra and Breakestra feat Chali 2na, Soup, Double K & Mixmaster Wolf, classic jazz funk era heroes Grant Green, Joe Thomas and Eddie Jefferson, modern Afro Funk from Ikebe Shakedown, Latin Beat from Cesar's Salad and much more! Titles include "Family Rap" by Breakestra, Chali 2na & others, Grant Green's cover of Kool & The Gang's "Let The Music Take Your Mind", "You Can Bet Your Swet Bippy" by The Joe Thomas Group, ""Outlines Part 3" by Ernst Arno, "Hard Steppin" by Ikebe Shakedown, "Yenyere" by Cesar's Salad" and more.

Various — Soul Shaker Vol 3 – Deep Funk, Soul & Groovy Club Sounds From Today's Scene! ... LP
Record Kicks (Italy), 2006. New Copy .... $16.99
This series just keeps getting better and better – and this hard-hitting third volume may be the funkiest entry so far! The groove here is nearly all modern deep funk – of the Quantic, Daptone, Truth & Soul, and Tramp Records variety – served up with just a bit of the modder touches that used to grace Record Kicks in years back, but which have now mostly been replaced by grittier tunes that are very much in the best tradition of the JBs or The Meters! The cuts here are all current, but the production, instrumentation, and tight funky arrangements all make them sound like lost singles from the end of the 60s – plenty hard and heavy to please even the fussiest fan of the classics – with 12 gems that include "Ratpack" by Big Daddy Moochin, "Tired Feet" by Smoove, "Transcend Me" by The Bamboos with Alice Russell, "Pushin On" by Quantic Soul Orchestra with Alice Russell, "Move Move Move" by The Link Quartet, "La Valla" by Bronx River Parkway, "Aynotchesh Yerefu" by Budos Band, "Practice What You Preach" by Poets Of Rhythm, "Do It Right" by Sweet Vandals, "Take My Time" by Breakestra with Choklate, "Hi Fidelity" by Hi Fly Orchestra, an d"Who Told You" by The Soul Snatchers.

Various — Soul Shaker Vol 5 – The Explosive Sound Of Today's Deep Funk & Soul Scene ... LP
Record Kicks (Italy), 2008. New Copy .... $16.99
Plenty of soul, and plenty of shaking – a hip collection of contemporary funk and soul, all of it served up with a very classic groove! The work here is mostly new, but it echoes the best sounds of the 60s and 70s – those wonderful years for soul music that are being revived strongly by key combos from the global deep funk underground. The vibe here is even funkier than other Soul Shaker sets – a bit less mod, a bit more James Brown – and the package is a great testament to the ever-evolving groove of the hip Record Kicks label. LP features 12 tracks in all – including "Time Wasting" by Baby Charles, "The Satisfier" by Eli Paperboy Reed, "Girls On Film" by Kokolo, "No Luck 2 Run" by Zamali, "Keep On Looking (Kenny Dope rmx)", "Heckuva Man" by The Sweet Divines, "Trouble Me" by The Diplomats Of Solid Sound, "Idle Time (Lack Of Afro rmx)" by The New Mastersounds, and "Little Miss Funky Sole" by Breakestra.
