If you listen to Def Jux material and go, "man, I don't know – these guys are a little weird, too left field for me. . ." this Living Legend Murs debut album is more left coast than anything they've put out, and it has more straight ahead rhyme cadences and patterns than their usual, not that Murs ins't a maestro on the mic, because he is and he will have you sayin "wow" with his fast harmonious delivery and rippin precision – You can still understand each and every syllable of his story weaving infernos and you'll laugh, ponder, and have a great party at the same time. This features some production you may expect from the Def Jux camp like El-P, RJD2, and Blockhead
, but there's a track here from Shock G of Digital Underground?! A couple miss their mark, but overall this is a great record. Guest spots by Aesop Rock and El-P round out the album. Tracks include "The Dance", "Happy Pills", "God's Work", "Done Deal", "You & I", "Def Cover", "Please Leave", "18 With A Bullet", "Brotherly Love", and more.
