Cinematic funky soul instros from Tee See Connection – and one of the best 45s yet from our friends at Colemine Records! "Black Mamba" is the charming, serpentine A-Side – a slow cooker with hypnotic trumpet and sax leading the instrumentation – with a steady, but laidback beat, percussion that rattles and hisses, a heavy bass line and some nice guitar. The flipside is an inventive dubby funk instrumental cover of "Take My Breath Away" – yes, the song from Top Gun – with a woozy, Jackie Mittoo-inspired keyboard sound, dub-style bass and drums, and that inescapable melody played nicely by the horn section. Funky stuff from a group that features members of The Jive Turkeys and The Monophonics.
