Tony Bennett — For Once In My Life ... LP
Columbia, 1967. Very Good .... $4.99
A record that has a Motown hit for its title, but the album's got a depth that marks Bennett as one of the most complex singers of his generation – way past the broad belter of ballads from the 50s, and an all-adult male vocalist whose sound was essential to the sophistication of the mainstream in the late 60s. Many tunes are standards, given lush arrangements by Torrie Zito and Marion Evans – sung by Tony with that deep voice that nobody else could ever hope to match! Titles include "Out Of This World", "For Once In My Life", "How Do You Say Auf Wiedersehen", "Keep Smiling At Trouble", "Baby Dream Your Dream", "Days Of Love", and "Something In Your Smile".
(360 sound stereo pressing.)

new Frankie Randall — I Remember You ... LP
RCA, 1966. Used .... $9.99 Out Of Stock
A sly swinger from Frankie Randall – an album that's done with a bit more of a subtle feel than some of his previous albums for RCA – a shift that's almost like the change made at the time by other RCA singers like Jack Jones or Vic Damone! Randall was always great as a belter, but he's even better as a mature, masculine singer here – working through tunes put together with even more sophisticated charts than on earlier albums, thanks to arrangements from Joe Bond, Frank Hunter, and Manny Albam. Randall's range is really great – and when he slows down on a few numbers, he comes across with a surprising degree of feeling – really making the album a standout in his all-too-short recorded career. Titles include "I'll Be Around", "I Remember You", "I'll Be Seeing You", "I Concentrate On You", "Come Back To Me", "Thanks For The Memory", and "Falling In Love Again".
(Mono pressing. Cover has a promo imprint.)

new Betty Wright — My First Time Around ... CD
Atco (Japan), 1968. New Copy .... $15.99 Out Of Stock
A late 60s southern soul gem from then 14-year-old belter Betty Wright – her early singles for the Alston label that eventually became her debut album for Atlantic! Clarence Reid wrote most of the tracks, with arrangements and production handled by Steve Alaimo's Marlin Productions. It's done in the raw southern soul style which made that organization's name at the time – and Betty carries that groove incredibly well – as well as a woman of any age group! Essential! Cuts include "I'm Thankful", "The Best Girls Can't Always Win", "Girls Can't Do What the Guys Do", "I'm Going To Hate Myself In The Morning", "I Can't Stop My Heart", He's Bad, Bad, Bad", "Funny How Love Grows Cold", the incredible "Cry Like a Baby", "Circle Of Heartbreak", "Just You" and more!
