new Barigozzi GroupOptical Sound ... LP
Easy Tempo (Italy), Early 70s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold .... $13.99 Out Of Stock
Excellent lost funky work from Italy! The Barigozzi Group were one of these obscure little combos that churned out tight funky tracks for bigger outfits – very much in the style of I Gres, Marc 4, or some of the other great Italian groups that are being discovered lately. Their strength was a great keyboard sound, augmented by some wonderfully produced guitars, nicely flanged or wah-wahed, and some excellent drums, played in a nice tight stiffly rhythmic style. This package includes a whopping 21 cuts pulled from 3 lost alubms – all wrapped up in a wonderful looking cover that's one of the nicest Easy Tempo have dropped on us to date! Titles include "Tarzan Dance", "Blue Hairs", "Silver Legs", "Ivory Breast", "Black Heart", "Theme For Aretha", "Hong Kong Wind", and "Message From the Jungle". Great stuff!

new Franco Cerri — Chitarra (Japanese paper sleeve edition) ... CD
Columbia/DIW (Japan), 1964. New Copy .... $14.99 29.99
Beautiful work from Franco Cerri – a really unique guitar jazz session that features his talents in a host of different settings! The players vary throughout the set – so that one number only features a duo with bass, but others feature larger lineups that include Gianni Basso on tenor, Dino Piana on trombone, Oscar Valdambrini on trumpet, Renato Sellani on piano, and Giancarlo Barigozzi on flute – all key Italian players of the 60s who really get room to sparkle on the record! Cerri's tone runs from smoothly jazzy on the group numbers to a bit more raw and personal on some of the more stripped-down ones – and titles include "Chit Car", "Blues For Jo", "Bassezza", "New Nova", "Stardust", and "Blues Dei Framasteni".

new Milt Jackson — Milt Jackson Sings With The Enrico Intra Group (180 gram vinyl) ... LP
Derby/SeriE.WOC (Italy), 1964. New Copy (reissue).... $49.99
A rare Italian session from vibes genius Milt Jackson – and a set that features Milt on vocals instead of his usual instrument! The format here is really wonderful – and quite a change from what you might expect – as Milt's got this warm, raspy style of singing that's completely charming – and not unlike the really personal inflections he brings to his vibes. The core set features instrumentation by a small group that features Enrico Intra on piano, Giancarlo Barigozzi on alto and flute, Pallino Salonia on bass, and Gil Cuppini on drums – and two more tracks – "Hear Strings" and "Storia Di Un Amore" – feature a larger group. Two final numbers are instrumentals penned by Intra – "Intramood" and "Tribute To Milt" – both great!
(Limited to 300 copies! Very cool package – with heavy sleeve and a bonus photo sheet too!)

new Various — Easy Tempo Vol 2 – The Psycho Beat ... CD
Easy Tempo (Italy), 1960s/1970s. New Copy .... $11.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
Mindblowing work from the Italian soundtrack scene of the 60s and 70s – a true treasure of tracks that more than lives up to the "psycho beat" promise of its title! The tunes are a heady brew of tripped-out styles – floating organ, slinking bass, stepping strings, fuzzy guitar, and bumping drums – all in a space that's just the right place between funky and easy – with a sublime kind of sound that's unlike anything else we can think of! If you've only ever dug funky groovers from the Anglo side of the spectrum, this is the kind of record that will definitely open up your ears – and even though the collection's an old one, it's still one of the best illustrations around of the genius of Italy at the time! Titles include "Fotomodelle" by Piero Umiliani, "Red Face" by Barigozzi Group, "Shake Psycho" by Mario Molino, "Schegge" by Lesiman, "Rapimento In Sicilia" by Nino De Luca, "Essere Donna" by Piero Umiliani, "L'Appartamento Vuoto" by Gianni Ferrio, "La Fine Di Cobb" by Stelvio Cipriani, and "Hurricane" by Cesco Anselmo.

new Various — Easy Tempo Vol 7 – Bikini Beat ... CD
Easy Tempo (Italy), Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy .... $11.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
The bikini beat is a great one here – no simple beach music classics, but a range of mod groovers from the classic years of the Italian soundtrack scene! This volume is heavy on electric elements – fuzzy guitars, keyboards, and more – all filtered nicely through a range of rhythms from the 60s and the 70s – bossa, jazzy, and funky – filled with amazing twists and turns throughout! The double-length collection is a treasure through and through – easily one of the greatest soundtrack sets we could have hoped for. Tracks include "Teresa L'Illusa" by Riz Ortolani, "Malizie Di Venere" by Gianpiero Reverberi, "Spy Chase" by Bruno Nicolai, "Airport Rock" by Barigozzi Group, "Shake 2000" by Piero Piccioni, "Amanda Blues" by Gianni Ferrio, "Un Detective" by Fred Bongusto, "Katmandu" by Piero Piccioni, "Theme" by Armando Trovajoli, and "La Bambolona" by Luis Bacalov.
