Various — Jolly Story Vol 2 (LP sleeve edition) ... CD
Jolly/BTF (Italy), 1960s. New Copy Gatefold .... $16.99
A wealth of rare work from the Italian scene of the 60s – some amazing tracks we never would have heard otherwise! Instead of other sets of this nature, which are often straight beat, garage, or psyche – this collection features a really great range of styles – kind of a true spectrum of Italian pop in the 60s – yet without any of the cloying commercial modes that a term like "pop" might imply! Production on most of the tracks is really great – lots of cool twists and turns and studio touches that keep things interesting – and which almost make a lot of these numbers feel like some of the occasional rock numbers you'd hear blaring from a radio or jukebox in an early 60s Italian film. Features 18 tracks in all, with a nice booklet of original record art too – on titles that include "Thunderball" by Bob Mitchell, "Dormi Dormi" by Oscar, "L'Apassionata" by Enzo Jannacci, "Ascolta Mio Dio" by Peppino Gagliardi, "Impazzivo Per Te" by Adriano Celentano, "Chiaccio Bollente" by Tony Dallarna, "Lo Spillo" by Fausto Mola, and "Gira Gira" by I Fuggiaschi.

new Franco Cerri — La Sera A Casa Con Te ... CD
BTF (Italy), 1968. New Copy .... $24.99 Out Of Stock
Incredibly lovely work from Italian guitarist Franco Cerri – easily one of the best players on his instrument in the 60s – even on both sides of the Atlantic! The setting here is relatively lush – fuller backgrounds with Cerri's guitar on lead solos – but often with some nice bits of bossa and some of the other delightful flourishes you'd get in Italian charts of the time, particularly some of the soundtrack arrangements. The feel is wonderful – a great expansion of some of Cerri's small group modes of the earlier part of the decade – and titles include "Ti Basta Dare Tempo Al Tempo", "I Love You", "Bluesette", "Che Faro", "Tonsambaris", "Stella By Starlight", and "Girl From Ipanema".

new New Trolls/Luis Bacalov — Concerto Grosso Pour Les New Trolls ... LP
Pierre Cardin/BTF (Italy), Early 70s. New Copy Gatefold .... $29.99 Out Of Stock
A wicked mix of proggish rocking and funky jazz – totally great, thanks to some added orchestrations from soundtrack maestro Luis Bacalov! The record is easily one of the most interesting from New Trolls – kind of a blend of jazz-influenced rock with some higher-concept ideas – yet saved by the leaner needs of a soundtrack setting – so that nothing ever gets too overdone or overindulgent! There's some wonderful strings which really set the record apart from others of this nature – and there's definitely some Bacalov touches on the keyboards, too. Side one features the full "Concerto Grosso Pour Les New Trolls" – and side two features shorter tracks that are equally nice, one with some great funky flute!
