Cheap Thrills, maybe – but they cut deeply and last forever! The raw manic energy of the group at their live best is somehow bottled and presented on record as perfectly as it ever could be – and even better are the delicate moments that show such an incredible depth! A beautiful collaboration between Miles Davis and the great Gil Evans – and perhaps the most perfectly realized of all their projects! The album's got a wonderfully unified feel – as it begins with long compositions that have a distinct Spanish-tinge (and not a Latin-tinge, which is an important distinction to the way the album progresses.) Evans' arrangements have a majesty that takes the songs to the next level – working them as lush, lively backings for Davis' equally majestic trumpet solos, some of the finest he ever recorded with large group backing. Wonderful all the way through – and with the tracks "Concierto De Aranjuez", "Saeta", "The Pan Piper", and "Solea".

A limited edition slice of goodness from Mayer Hawthorne – a live performance recorded for the Morning Becomes Eclectic program on KCRW in LA! The material's a nice addition to the studio Hawthorne we already love – and shows a new sort of warmth that comes through not just in the performance, but in some of the interview bits too. The band is a small combo, and titles include "No Strings", "Love In Motion", "Dreaming", "The Walk", "Shiny & New", and "I Wish It Would Rain".

A totally amazing look at Lee Hazlewood's late 60s record label – served up in a host of rare singles by other artists who were working with Lee at the time! The range of styles is wide, but there's a really focused feel to the whole thing – given Hazlewood's key touches in the studio behind the singers, and his undeniable sense of wit and warmth, which makes just about all these artists sound way better with Lee than they would on their own! This limited-edition box is totally beautifully – with eleven individual 7" singles, each with original label and sleeve art – plus the rare "Woodchucks" pic sleeve, a special Hazlewood puzzle, an LHI 45 adapter, and even a download card for all the music – packaged in a heavy-duty magnetic flip-top box! A split LP by 2 of the better psyche folk bands in modern rock – Hush Arbors and Arbouretum – a team effort that makes sense stylistically on top of the conveniently alliterate band names! Hush Arbors' 5 songs kick it off in timeless, insistently melodic fashion. Arbouretum deliver 3 longer tracks to close, nicely akin to the preceding Hush Arbour tracks, though with more hypnotic vibe. Both bands have a nice bit of fuzz in the guitars. Great stuff! The Includes "Lovely Ghost", "Prayer Of Forgetfulness", "Up Yr Coast", "People & Places" and "The Sleeper" by Hush Arbors. Arbouretum's tracks includes "New Scarab", "The Black Sun" and "St Anthony's Fire".

Marc Mac takes it back, way back – with some great 70s styled sounds mixed in with his 21st Century vibe! The package is a great one to be issued on a limited 7" box, given the style of the music – and cuts include "Shaft In Africa (Addis)", "Funky Fanfare", "Apache (battle dub)", "Jungle Green Outlines", "Swahililand", "Luanne From Harlem", "Back In Time", and "Oil & Water".

The early 70s glam masterpiece from T Rex – setting the standard for the sounds to come – and pop landmark status aside, it's probably the best album Bolan, Mickey Finn and the group ever cut! On Electric Warrior, T Rex resurrects the primitive spirit of the seediest rock of their predecessors, with a sound that's loud and anthemic. They hide sax, fluegelhorn and classical-styled strings under loud guitars, making this some of prettiest sleaze of the 70s! Classic! This limited 6X7 inch box set version essentially turns this classic album into a jukebox – and features the B-Side bonus track "Raw Rump".
