✨✧ Elmer BernsteinHeavy Metal – The Score ... LP
Full Moon/Elektra, 1981. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A mostly orchestral score for this early 80s, feature-length animated sci fi film – penned and conducted by the great Elmer Bernstein, with a depth that's surprising, considering the movie! Elmer shows he's a consummate professional here – as he avoids any temptation to make things cheesy or sexy to fit the film, and instead turns out a top-shelf orchestral score played by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with some slight occasional voices at times. Makes Out", and "Barbarians". LP, Vinyl record album

Les BaxterSacred Idol ... LP
Capitol, 1960. Near Mint- ... $49.99
A real standout set from the end of Les Baxter's run at Capitol Records – originally scored for a film that was never released, but a great set of tracks that more than stands strongly on its own! The theme here is a Mexican/Latin American one – explored by Baxter with his trademark blend of larger orchestrations and lighter exotica touches – often swirling around in an extremely evocative mode that makes us wish the film had been issued to the public, and at a few key moments even hinting at the funkier modes that would follow on some of Les' later work for other labels. Titles include "Aqueducts", "Gardens Of The Moon", "Pyramid Of The Sun", "Temple Of Gold", and "Procession Of The Princes". (Now Sound, Soundtracks) LP, Vinyl record album
(Original rainbow label stereo pressing. Includes the Capitol Full Dimensional Stereo inner sleeve, with some aging a bit of pen. Cover has light aging, some ringwear in back, and small seam splits.)

✨✧ Frank LoesserGuys & Dolls – Original Soundtrack ... CD
Blue Moon (Spain), 1955. Used ... Out Of Stock
CD reissue of the full soundtrack to the film version of Guys & Dolls – one that not only contains all of the vocal performances from the movie, but also adds in additional songs from the play that weren't in the film – as well as three unedited studio outtakes as well! Due to contractual issues at the time of release, there was never a proper LP that featured the music – a damn shame, given that Frank Sinatra turns in some of his best on screen vocal performances ever in the movie – alongside a great cast that includes Vivian Blaine, Stubby Kaye, Jean Simmons, and even Marlon Brando – making a rare appearance here as a singer! Titles form the film include the sublime "Adelaide", plus "Guys & Dolls", "Fugue For Tinhorns", "Luck Be A Lady", "Sit Down You're Rocking The Boat", "If I Were A Bell", "I'll Know", "Pet Me Poppa", "Sue Me", and "The Oldest Established Permanent Crap Game". Bonus tracks include "A Bushel & A Peck", "My Time Of Day", "I've Never Been In Love Before", and "Marry The Man Today" from the Broadway version – plus "I Know", "If I Were A Bell", and "A Woman In Love" in unedited versions. ✨✧ David BowieMoonage Daydream – Original Soundtrack (3LP set) ... LP
Parlophone, 2023. New Copy 3LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A soundtrack to the film of the same name, but one that's every bit essential to the catalog of David Bowie – as it's filled with all sorts of new mixes, live cuts, and other rare tracks! There's plenty of material here that only makes a brief appearance in the film, and gets full exposure on the extended space of the album – a great array of titles that include "Oh You Pretty Things (live)", "Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud (live)", "Hallo Spaceboy", "Quicksand (2021 mix early)", "Jean Genie/Love Me Do (live)", "Memory Of A Free Festival (harmonium edit)", and Moonage Daydream special edits of tracks that include "DJ", "Heroes (live)", "New Career In A New Town", "Sound & Vision", "Modern Love", "The Mysteries", "Let's Dance", "Aladdin Sane", "Space Oddity", and "Warszawa (live)". VariousThey Move In The Night ... LP
Numero, Mid 1960s. New Copy ... $20.99 23.99
A very cool soundtrack, and one that offers up a weird and wonderful mix of modes from the mid 60s – bits of surf guitar, garage rock, country, and more – all brought together in a wonderfully evocative mode that hardly needs the images of the offbeat film on the screen! The whole thing is a really great dip into a 60s underground that's not often as well represented in the world of compilations and reissues. Titles include "Tropic Waters" by Steve Waltner, "Melody On The Moon" by The Travelers, "Crying Guitar" by Johnny Blue, "Walk Through The Valley" by Kay Johnson, "Far Away" by Ron Heiss & The Low Notes, "Tarantula" by Jody Reynolds, and "Lost Horizon" by Tommy Dae's High Tensions. ✨✧ Piero Piccioni/Francesco De MasiUna Tomba Aperta Una Bara Vuota/ Lo Squatatore Di New York ... CD
Beat (Italy), Late 70s. Used ... Out Of Stock
Italian horror galore – and 2 great soundtracks from the 70s, back to back on one CD! Francesco De Masi served up the score for Lo Squatatore Di New York (The New York Ripper) – and it's got a sweet electric groove that's filled with plenty of slasher touches – fuzzy guitar, driving rhythms, and a few moodier cuts with spare keyboards that get nice and funky. Titles include "New York One Night", Even better, though, is Piero Piccioni's score for Una Tomba Aperta – a hauntingly mellow soundtrack that drifts along with that languid flowing style that Piero used on some of his best erotic scores. A few tunes have some darker, stronger orchestrations – but there's some beautifully mellow ones that slide in a sweet 70s Italian mode. Titles include "Helen Where Are You", "It Means Love", "Haunting Memories", "Moonbeams On The Ruins", and "Dreaming Again". CD
