✨✧ Henry ManciniHigh Time ... CD
RCA (Spain), 1960. Used ... Out Of Stock
An overlooked score from Henry Mancini – one that shows a slightly wider range of sound than his bigger hits of the time! The record's a great blend of gentle jazz, warm rhythms, and a few standout tracks that get a bit more playful – all put together with the sense of class, space, and timing that you'd expect from other Mancini work of the late 50s – and played by a group that has some similarly jazzy touches! There's a freshness here that's really great – not just because most tunes are unfamiliar, but also because Hank changes things up nicely throughout the set – really making for a nice balance in the music. The album includes the Cahn/Van Heusen number "The Second Time Around", sung here by a chorus – but the best bits are the Mancini originals, instrumentals that include "The Old College Try Cha Cha", "Tiger", "The Dean Speaks", "So Neat", "Moon Talk", "A Mild Blast", and "The Nutty Professor". ✨✧ SeedsPushin Too Hard ... CD
GNP/Big Beat (UK), Late 60s. Used ... Out Of Stock
A great "new" album from the legendary Seeds – not new recordings, but a fresh collection that brings together a fair bit of rare and unissued tracks – along with some of their classics, and some rare pre-seeds material too! The collection is pulled from a soundtrack for the film – the documentary titled The Seeds Pushin Too Hard – but the whole thing works perfectly as a double-length Seeds album on its own – especially as it features a few tracks by other artists that also offer a great bookend to their short but fantastic musical legacy! If you know know The Seeds, you'll recognize their sound instantly – as it was a crucial west coast blast of psych garage that influenced many other groups for years to come – but which is still best heard from the group themselves. Titles include the 14 minute full length version of "Evil Hoodoo" – plus "Pushin Too Hard, "No Escape (take 3)", "Mr Farmer", "Tripmaker (live)", "Out Of The Question (alt mix)", "Can't Seem To Make You Mine", "Try To Understand (take 3)", "Thousand Shadows (1993 mix)", "Up In Her Dream", "Satisfy You (take 3)", "The Gardener (take 1)", "Night Time Girl (take 8)", "Fallin Off The Edge Of My Mind (take 12)", "A Faded Picture", and the very cool "YMCA Spot/Sky Speaks". Also includes "They Say" by Ritchie Marsh, "The Perfect Wave" by Neil Norman, "Baby Please Don't Go (live)" by Muddy Waters, and "The Ballad Of Sky Saxon" by Kim Fowley. (Rock, Soundtracks) CD

✨✧ Sid RaminStiletto – Original Soundtrack ... CD
Columbia/Vocalion (UK), 1969. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Fantastic stuff – and one of the grooviest soundtracks you'll ever hope to own! Sid Ramin did a heck of a lot of work for TV soundtracks by the time this one came out – and he took all that experience, and came up with some fantastically swinging jazz tracks that have a sock-mod 60s groove! Hammond organ dances around the best numbers – blasting out with horns on variations of the very catchy "Stiletto" theme – and other great cuts mix flute, strings, and a bit of harpsichord or piano – creating that cool 60s easy sound that never gets old in our book! Titles include "Confrontation", "Goat Island", "Follow That Man", "Stiletto", "Tram", and the classic "Sugar In The Rain", a great light bossa number with some dreamy vocals from Sally Stevens! CD

✨✧ Robby PoitevinTecnica De Un Omicidio (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1966. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Rare work from composer Robby Poitevin – a great action score, put together with a heavy dose of jazz – great vibes, flute, and plenty of other horns – blasting out with a hip style over lots of tight percussion – almost in the manner of spy films from the time, but with a lot more complexity at points, almost the depths of a drama, without any of the sleepy moments – maybe at a level that rivals some of the best Lalo Schifrin work of the period! There's plenty of drama in the progression of tunes, but things are always pretty darn groovy – jazzy 60s action at its best – on titles that include "Alba A New York", "Central Station", "My Man", "L'Ultima Vittima", "Bassifondi", "Clint In Agguato", and "Tecnica Di Un Omicido". CD features 12 more bonus tracks – most of which are previously unreleased! CD
