✨✧ Lalo SchifrinDe Mision Imposible Al Bossa Progresivo (aka Bossa Nova – New Brazilian Jazz) ... LP
Audio Fidelity/Ekipo (Spain), 1962. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
An excellent album of bossa jazz from the great Lalo Schifrin – recorded at a time when he was working in the group of Dizzy Gillespie, and picking up a few great touches from that scene too! The combo is super-sharp – with the great Leo Wright on alto and flute – blowing these great solos that are worth the price of the album alone – next to Lalo's piano, the bass of Chris White, and drums of Rudy Collins – plus two more percussionists too! Titles include "Apito No Samba", "Poema Do Adeus", "Chora Tua Tristeza", "Boato", "Bossa Em New York", and "Patinho Feio". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Luiz BonfaLuiz Bonfa – Composer Of Black Orpheus Plays & Sings Bossa Nova ... CD
Verve, 1962. Used ... Out Of Stock
One of the earliest of the classic Verve bossa nova sessions of the 60s – and a wonderful showcase for the talents of guitarist Luiz Bonfa! Most of Bonfa's previous recordings were done in a very spare or solo mode – and this set makes a nice change by adding in some larger orchestrations – yet still handled with great bossa sensitivity by Oscar Castro Neves and Lalo Schifrin – themselves very big up-and-coming talents at the time! The sound is bright and breezy, as you'd expect from Verve at this time – and Bonfa's a lot livelier than usual, and even sings on a number of cuts – with a charming quality that's a bit like Joao Gilberto. Titles include "Bossa Nova Cha Cha", "Sambalamento", "Vem So", "Samba De Duas Notas", "Domingo A Noite", "Quebra Mar", and "Adeus". CD
