Damn soulful work from Marta Kubisova – a late 60s singer from Czechoslovakia who was so groovy, she was banned by the Communist Party! This excellent set brings together rare tracks by Marta from the prime early years of her career – all numbers that feature very Western soul-styled backings, with plenty of funk in the mix too – and some of the odder, more offbeat arrangements you might get in the music of singers like Doris or FranceGall! There's an undercurrent of pop-psyche too – which would make this package just right for the Finders Keepers camp – and our hat's off to the Vampi Soul empire for doing such a great job with this wonderful material. 25 tracks in all – with titles that include "Tajga Blues 69", "Hare Krisna", "Chci Pravo Trubky Mit", "Bily Stul", "Svlikam Lasku", "Tak Dej Se K Nam A Projdem Svet", "Ne", "Jakoby Nic", "Nepis Dal", "Ten Zlej Pav", "Modrej Vres", and "Cervencove Rano".
