Nathan Davis is one of our all-time favorite saxophone players – and he sounds tremendous here in the company of trumpeter Woody Shaw, as the pair both take on Shaw's early "Zoltan" composition, with help from Larry Young on piano! The flipside features an even bolder number – the Davis composition "Mister E", with some very fierce work from Young on the piano – a really surprising change from his usual organ work of the time! 7-inch, Vinyl record

One of our favorite ever singles from Chicago! "Chinatown" is a hilarous (and slightly racist) soul track about the asian community, with some great fake "Chinese" singing. Very much in the tradition of tracks like "Ling Ting Tong"! 7-inch, Vinyl record

One of our favorite cuts ever from Main Source – the tremendous "Looking At The Front Door", a tune that rides strongly on a great Donald Byrd sample to give it a righteous jazzy groove! Falling In Love/Pye, 1975. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
2 nice mellow cuts by 9th Creation – very different than their funk work, but still pretty great! "Sexy Girl" is our favorite here – as the tune's got a warm harmony sound, a nice jaunty groove, and a hook that keeps on going long over the cut's gone. A great east coast-y number – produced really nicely! 7-inch, Vinyl record

A killer bit of New Jersey soul from the 70s – and one of our favorite Moments tracks ever! Harry Ray steps out as the lead of the group on this one – but is still supported by some great Moments harmonies at times. But the real appeal of the track is the amazing arrangement – which starts out with echoey piano over a funky beat – then keeps this snapping Sylvia-like groove that runs throughout! 7-inch, Vinyl record

A rare EP for the film L'Homme Presse – music that has this open, floating sort of vibe – light strings, and isolated piano lines – almost at a level that's like some of our favorite French composers from the early 70s. There's some lightly classical touches, but the sound is quite contemporary overall – with a moody vibe that reminds us of some of the darker moments from Francis Lai. 7-inch, Vinyl record
