"Broke" is pretty straight blues – slow electric guitar work out front, in a sad trippy tone. "Mardi Gras" is more lively – with a rolling New Orleans groove underneath.

Well-blown material from trumpeter Jonah Jones – recorded in a hip setting with the French group of Dave Pochonet for support! Dave's on drums, arrangements are by Andre Persiany, and the setting is pretty open and relaxed – nice small combo work that lets Jones blow in a really exploratory way – much more so than on his Capitol recordings of the 50s! Titles include "Barbecue For Jonah", "Swingin For Mary Lou", and "Stars Fell On Alabama".
