new Banana Splits — Doin The Banana Split/I Enjoy Being A Boy/The Beautiful Calliopa/Let Me Remember You Smiling ... 7-inch
Kellogg, Late 60s. New Copy (pic cover, reissue).... $6.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
What a cool little single! This 4 track ep is presented by Kelloggs, the cereal company, as a tie-in with the Banana Splits TV show. It's got some really great numbers that range in style from trippy to groovy, and maybe a little bit funky. The track "Doin The Banana Split" was purportedly written by Barry White adn features a slightly funky groove, and a hip male soul vocal and heavy instrumentation. We simply cannot believe kid show music was at one point this crazy and incredible! Other cuts have a groovy sunshine pop feel – a bit off-beat, kind of trippy, and almost somewhere near Millenium or Love Generation.

new BCG — Street Talk (variation 2)/Street Talk (variation 3) ... 7-inch
20th Century, 1976. Used .... $9.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
The BCG is the Bob Crewe Generation – a sweet 70s disco ensemble led by the 60s soundtrack king. Here, they've got a tightly percolated sound that reminds us of Barry White at his best – strings soaring over strong syncopation, with some chorus female vocals bubbling in amidst the glossy funky mix. Very nice, and with a wonderful classic club feel!
(In a 20th Century sleeve.)

new Gloria Scott — Case Of Too Much Love Makin/That's What You Say Every Time You're Near Me ... 7-inch
Go Ahead (UK), 1974. New Copy (pic cover, reissue).... $7.99 Out Of Stock
Two of the greatest tracks ever from overlooked soul singer Gloria Scott – both of them longtime favorites around these parts! "Case Of Too Much Love Makin" is stellar right from the start – soaring out in this upbeat Barry White-produced groove, and touched with these vocals from Gloria that are heartfelt, yet which also move along with the groove beautifully! "That's What You Say" follows suit with a very similar vibe – a rare mix of modes that comes across perfectly – and which has made the track a dancefloor gem for years!
