Harry Roche Constellation — Spiral (plus Sometimes) ... CD
El (UK), 1973. New Copy .... $13.99
Easy instrumentals and jazzy genius from the early 70s Brit scene – groovy, moddish jazz takes on pop and soundtrack hits of the time from the Harry Roche Constellation – with a vibe that betters the grooviest of sound library discoveries! There's a loungey charm to many of the tunes, but trombonist Roche and his Constellation get down and dirty in spots, too – such as on the priceless, tripped out fuzzy funk version of "Pinball Wizard" – and that's just one highlight of this should-be classic! Blasting horns, easy keys, chiming strings, jazz funk bass and grooves galore! Players include the cream of the crop of period British session players. Tracks include "Superwoman", "Tangerine", "That's Living", "Rhapsody In Blue", "Good Morning Heartache", "Pinball Wizard", "Lay Lady Lay", "Ludmilla's Theme", "Spiral" and more. Tracks from Sometimes include "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life", "Watch What Happens", "Moonlight Serenade", "You've Got Possibilities", "Sometimes", "The Prowler", "Marmalade Molasses And Honey", "Carnaby Chick", "My Romance" and more. 21 tracks in all!

new Various — Criminale Vol 1 – Paura (with bonus CD) ... LP
Flipper/Penny (Italy), Mid 70s. New Copy .... $25.99 Out Of Stock
Rare tracks from the Flipper Music sound library – a small Italian imprint of the 70s, with a style that's heavy on trippy touches! The work here feels a lot like the kind of sounds you'd get on the best American biker soundtracks of the late 60s – or some of those cool psychedelic exploitation films – but the overall quality's almost even better, too – as the music seems to be captured with real feeling and great instrumentation – not any watered-down studio styles at all! There's plenty of heavy drums, fuzzy guitar, and weird keyboards – and titles include "Tenione Beta" and "Tensione Gama" by Peymont, "Angoscia Universale" by Lamartine, "Il Pozzo E Il Pendolo No 5" by Giorgio E Franco Bracardi, "Effetto Di Tensione" by Amedeo Tommasi, "Occultimso" by Daniela Casa, "Fear" by Fabio Frizzi, "Narvalo" by Sandro Brunolini, "Sensazione Fisiologica" by Joel VDB, and "Zombie" by Gerardo Iacoucci.
(Includes a bonus CD with the vinyl!)

Janko Nilovic — Chorus ... CD
Dare Dare (France), Early 70s. New Copy .... $9.99
The "chorus" in the title is appropriate – as there's a flurry of wordless vocals in the mix of this one! The record feels a bit like some of Ennio Morricone's more vocal-oriented soundtracks from the early 70s – with breezy voices drifting over slightly funky arrangements, working together in a mix of moods and styles that could have only come from the pen of the godlike Janko Nilovic! Titles include "Boom Bang", "Ilion", "One Together", "Third Power", "Mrs Brown", "Down Down", and "Magical World".

new Jack Arel — Chappell Recorded Music Library Works – Originals & Remixes ... CD
Chappell/Vadim (France), Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy 2CD .... $11.99 Out Of Stock
A long-overdue collection of work from the legendary Jack Arel – one of the lesser-known sound library composers of the late 60s and early 70s – but a true giant in his funky field, as you'll hear by the great music on this set! Arel is French, but he often wrote for British sources – including the Prisoner TV show – so his music has a great blend of Parisian pop modes and chunkier London beats – a style that almost mixes together some of the funkier jazz sensibilities of the sound library generation with the tighter, more romping rhythms that were usually penned for TV and commercial use. The first half of this set features 25 originals by Arel – some in collaboration with Pierre Dutor or Jean-Claude Petit – and often done with trippier touches that include fuzzy guitar or funky flute! The second half features remixes of the originals – tunes that are often a bit longer, and almost restructured as whole new songs. Originals include "Shore Of Sumatra", "Sideral Rhythmic", "De Paris A Liverpool", "Jungle Soul", "Game Trap", "Picture Of Summer", "Train Bleu", "Strange Galaxy", and "Sundown". Remixes include "Drugstore Party" remixed by Le Tone, "Jungle Soul" remixed by Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra, "The Night Squad" by Danny Wild & Goldfinger, "Loco Robo" by Luke Vibert, "Chicago Girl" remixed by Barth, "Electric Railman" remixed Mowo, and "Crystal Abyss" by Telepopmusik.
