Various — Metti Una Bossa A Cena Vol 2 ... LP
Schema (Italy), 1960s/1970s. New Copy 2LP .... $18.99
Sublime bossa groovers from Italy! The first volume of this series was one of our favorite compilations that year it was released – and this second volume is equally as great! Schema groover Gerardo Frisina serves up a hand-picked batch of 16 tunes, mostly classic numbers from the late 60s and early 70s, pulled from the ranks of Italian soundtrack, jazz, and easy listening albums – all with a flair for making the bossa even groovier than it already is! Electric keyboards abound – and the rhythms run from dreamy to driving to slightly funky, always at the right pace for the material, and always making the set dance with delight! Titles include "Incontro All'Aereoporto" by Piero Piccioni, "Allora, Il Treno" by Bruno Nicolai & Edda Dell'Orso, "Avances" by Gerardo Frisina, "Wind" by Red Redford Sound System One, "Bossalonga" by Mustang, "Unreality Landscape" by Angel Pocho Gatti, "Susan Theme" by Daniele Patucchi, "Per Lei" by Stefano Torossi, and "Colpa Tua" by Giancarlo Gazzani.

new Various — Metti Una Bossa A Cena ... CD
Schema (Italy), 2000. New Copy .... $15.99 Out Of Stock
A fantastic collection of rare bossa material from Italy! The set's one of the best we've ever seen of this type, and it's a completely fresh batch of tunes that breaks past a lot of the other Italian compilations of recent years. Some of the artists are familiar names – like Morricone, Piccioni, and Trovajoli – but there's plenty of other artists that we've never even heard before! A few themes are reworkings of familiar soundtrack tunes, but most of the material is original – and done with a sparkling sound that's really great! The grooves are filled with loads of tight drums, bubbling organ, jangly piano, and sweet female vocals in sort of a Morricone-ish tradition. Great stuff, and with 20 excellent tracks that include "Amori Finiti" by Giancarlo Gazzani, "Relief" by The Black Fire, "Rossana" by Armando Trovajoli, "Sometime" by A Santisteban, "Tema Di Linda" by Franco Micalizzi, "Curriculum" by Franco Chiari, "Coronado 990" by Orchestra Henry Stone, "Meditation" by Romano Mussolini, and "Warm Blood" by Tullio Gallo.

new Various — Scoctopus – The In Sound From Octopus Records ... CD
Schema (Italy), Early 70s. New Copy .... $13.99 Out Of Stock
A legendary set of sound library grooves – and actually one of the first to kick off the genre! The package brings together rare tracks from the small Italian Octopus label – not nearly as well-known as De Wolfe, KPM, or other sound library giants – but an equally great source of rare funky jazz cuts that were never issued to the public at the time – recorded as part of the huge wave of studio activity in Italy during the 60s and 70s! Given that the set was collected by Schema, you can bet that the tracks are right on the money – and titles include "Curly" by Stellio Subelli, "Sculturea Beat" by Angelo Baroncini, "Diacromeico" by Sandro Brugnolini, "Games" by Pasquale Castiglione, "First Black" by Mario Molino, "Maze" by Roberto Conrado, and "Verso L'Infinito" by Alessandro Alessondroni.

new Various — Up! The Psycho Mellow – A Brief Excursion Into The 70's Sound ... CD
Schema (Italy), Early 70s. New Copy .... $15.99 Out Of Stock
Stunning compilation of Italian grooves from the early 70's – and one that has a slightly different twist than some of the other one's we've been stocking. The folks at Schema have put this one together, and the set's got a feel that's similar to some of the newer releases they've been working on over the past few years. The grooves are funky, yes, but they also have a light and airy sound, with lots of groovy bossa tinges, cool vocal parts, and the kind of smooth Italian feel that you'd never find on American records from the time. The tracks are played by groups like Expo 80, The Paris Studio Group, The Psycheground Group, The Black Fire, and The Hawksworth Big Band and String. Most of the tracks are breezy and groovy, with a sound that's similar to some of the best stuff on the Sound Gallery compilation – and different than the other funky Italian grooves we've been stocking! Nice one.

new Various — Hammock House – Eastbound L ... CD
Fania, 1960s/1970s. New Copy .... $11.99 12.99
Classic Latin, beautifully remixed – as a host of Fania Records gems are given a fresh twist by Louie Vega, Joe Claussell, Gilles Peterson, and others! The package is way more than you might expect – not clunky remixes of Latin styles, but some beautiful numbers that really expand the warmth and spontaneous energy of the originals – mostly keeping a strong 70s vibe intact, and approaching the project with a really loving feel overall! In fact, the sound is almost as if Schema got their hands on Fania – since there's echoes here of some of the updated Latin modes you'd find on that label too. Titles include "Saona (Gilles Peterson & Simbad rmx)" by Noro Morales, "Me Voy Ahora (Sacred Rhythm dance version)" by Ismael Miranda, "Siembra (Joe Claussell rmx)" by Ruben Blades, "Mi Gente (Louie Vega eol rmx)" by Hector Lavoe, "Take Five (Nicola Conte rmx)" by Roberto Roena, "Morris Park (Bonde De Role rmx)" by Lenni Sesar, and "O Elefante (Shh rmx)" by Ray Barretto.
Also available: Hammock House – Eastbound L ... LP $12.99
