Incredibly groovy work from French film composer Michel Magne – all of it for the films of Roger Vadim
, including some music for Barbarella that wasn't part of the regular US soundtrack for the movie! The music represents some of the more involved soundtracks for Vadim
films – but also echoes some of his better-known jazz scores too – thanks to Magne's ability to shift effortlessly between fuller orchestrations, and smaller, lighter instrumental themes. There's a real mix of moods going on here – sometimes subtle, or somber – other times more all-out playful, especially on some of the later soundtracks! CD features 8 tracks from Barbarella – including "L'Envol Du Vaisseau", "Poursuite Spatiale", "L'Adieu A Barbarella", "Bossa De L'Espace", and "Plainte Des Prisonniers"; plus 7 more from Don Juan 73 – including "Swedish Dream", "Don's Waltz", "Intermission", "Burn", and "Confession Par Mister Eye". Also features one or two tracks each from the films Les Rendez-Vous Manque, Le Repos Du Guerrier, Le Vice Et La Virtu, and La Ronde.
