New Johnny Hammond/QuasimodeLos Conquistadores Chocolates (2 versions) (10" single) ... 12-inch
Expansion (UK), 1975/2013. New Copy ... $7.99
An amazing cut – served up here in two different versions! The original version of "Los Conquistadores" is a seminal cut from the legendary Johnny Hammond – a key number off his classic Larry Mizell-produced album Gears – with a vibe that equally ties together jazz, soul, funk, and club – at a level that's gone onto become a huge inspiration for generations of house music artists over the years! Quasimode take on the tune on the flipside – in a smaller group jazz reading, but one that still has amazing keyboards and rhythms – and a soaring groove that really takes off, even without any production from Mizell! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Joubert SingersStand On The Word (Larry Levan Mix, Patchworks remix, Panoptikum Arkestra remix, Walter Mecca remix) ... 12-inch
Favorite (France), Early 80s. New Copy ... $14.99
A quartet of mixes of this club soul and gospel crossover classic – featuring a stellar Larry Levan mix plus remixes by Patchworks, Panoptikum Arkestra and Walter Mecca! The original is such unique, unimpeachable gem, the remixes are wise to be respectful of it's style. It kicks off with the much loved Larry Levan mix. The Patchworks remix follows, one that tightens it up just a bit, with a nicely bass-heavy groove under the vocals. The percussion gets some nice focus to start the Panoptikum Arkestra remix, before the choir comes soaring along along with some bubbling bass prominent in the mix. The Walter Mecca mix has a fuzzy, funky vibe. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Joubert SingersStand On The Word (original, For The Record mix, GSRP mix, inst) ... 12-inch
Favorite (France), Early 80s. New Copy ... $14.99
A classic crossover of gospel and club – a legendary cut that was played big back in the day by Walter Gibbons – with subsequent showings at Paradise Garage and The Loft! The tune's got a bouncy groove that's more disco than gospel – and the vocals have this soaring, righteous sound that mixes with the rhythms wonderfully – a bit like the best work by the NYCC! The full original is here, along with an instrumental – and the remixes are pretty faithful to the spirit of the original too. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Aural ExcitersSpooks In Space/Marathon Runner ... 12-inch
Ze, 1978. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
A great single from Aural Exciters – a hip New York ensemble from the late 70s, one of the seminal groups of the downtown post-disco crossover scene! The tracks feature work by August Darnell, James Chance, Bob Blank, Taana Gardner, and Coati Mundi – and is very much in the playful ensemble dancefloor mode of some of Darnell's other projects from the time – a bit more soulful than Kid Creole, with less of the quirky disco of other groups, and a very solid approach overall! "Spooks In Space" has a great chanting vocal quality, undercut nicely by a stepping space-bound bassline – and "Marathon Runner" is more standard club, but in a way that features some great vocals from Gardner! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(In a Ze sleeve.)
