Daniele BaldelliBack To My Funky Side ... CD
Cinedelic (Italy), 2013. New Copy ... $11.99
Maybe the best record we've ever heard from Cosmic mainman Daniele Baldelli – and definitely a set that really lives up to the funky side promised in the title! Baldelli's got a much deeper groove here than ever before – a great ear for tight elements on the basslines, mixed with jazzy work on keyboards and guitar – all woven into a groove that's every bit as club-worth as his other music, yet a lot more warm and soulful overall! It's almost like Daniele's going back to discover a disco generation he might have missed the first time around – with a retro style that's hard to distinguish from the original, a lot like Joey Negro and some of his Sunshine Band work. Titles include "Mellow Game", "Good Day", "What Da Funk", "Voltage Groove", "Synthesized Honey", "Break Loose", "Drive Me Crazy", and "Fontainebleau". CD

VariousSun Flowerz – The Shape Of Groove To Come Vol 1 ... LP
Cinedelic (Italy), 2004. New Copy ... $13.99
Mod, retro, and tripped-out grooves – a great sampling of some of the most playful work on the Italian scene of the past few years – including a huge number of artists that we only know from singles! The approach here takes off from the sound first crafted by some of the Irma La Douce scene – a blend of older retro-styled elements with modern dancefloor rhythms – in a mode that's always entertaining, and usually pretty darn charming as well! There's loads of great cuts on the set, and the package features 10 titles that include "Latino (Nicola Conte rmx)" by Fuzz Against Junk, "Engano" by Bob Dusi, "Capo Est" by Mop Mop, "Magic World" by Tantra Tribe, "Bramaputra" by Way O, "A Bocca Chiusa" by Vip 200, "La Javaneise" by Art Cluso, and "Castles In Spain" by Ghita. New VariousCarducci 76 – Sophisticated ... CD

Cool cuts compiled for the Carducci 76 club in Italy – put together from Cinedelic label offerings, and a few Schema Records bits as well! There's a great vibe running through the material – contemporary recordings, but with echoes of 60s jazz and Latin, all wrapped up in a handsome Carducci-styled package! Titles include "So What" by Jojo Effect, "Love Is In Town" by Brenda Boykin, "Cioccalatino" by Mossuto, "Love Me Till Sunday" by Nicola Conte, "Cats N Girl" by Club Des Belugas, "Sophisticated Samba" by Gerardo Frisina, "Rosegota" by Fabio Orsini, and "Cancun" by Tape Five.
